Okay, so have never been impressed with my iPhone 4 battery life (average use give me a day and a bit, maybe til bed on the 2nd night) however in the last few days it has been dropping its charge like a feckin holy ship...

Charged it last night over night, unplugged this morning at about 10am and it is showing 8% left already. Just to be clear, i have been out on the road and hence using my work Blackberry solidly and barely touched my iPhone and have checked faccers about three times, sent a text and made one call.

Long and short of it, the only thing i have done differently since getting the phone is upgrade to the latest iOS 4.3.2 a few days ago. I am in the middle of developing an app, and have added that to my iPhone as a beta test version, with debug info, but it was fine i think before this...

I am at a loss and have done a reset by holding the top and centre button but to no avail...

Any thoughts?!

Dave

Not sure if there have been network issues - mine usually has about 40% left at the end of the day ( sometimes gets a top up charge in the car on the way home) a couple of times recently it has been at 20% / 30% by mid morning and I haven't had a signal so I assume it is chewing battery charge as it searches, in fact it was hot to touch on one occassion :?

whaleys wrote:EDIT: just read simon mentioned about roaming too, I would agree with him, there is a chance that your bill is really quite high (especially if you are using data) I think they have a cut off point of £40 ish on data and I assume there will be an overall bill point that they will stop. There is a chance that they have cut you off if you dont normally spend that sort of money, bit like a credit cards do when they suspect fraud.

Your other option is to go into an AT&T shop and get a GoPhone sim, stick $25 dollars on it that will last 90 days and your off. You won't get data (as at&t got apple to remove the option to configure data if it picks up an at&t go phone sim) but if you can get wireless at some point on the phone visit, http://www.unlockit.co.nz and go to the APN settings for at&t follow the instructions and the data will work ;). You just then need to phone up the gophone top-up and add a data package.

Thanks,

What he said......
Any unusual activity is monitored and if you are suddenly using loads of data abroad for a period of four weeks without giving prior notification to Voda would result in barring the sim........awaiting your call.
Not ideal when you are legitimately using your phone but the networks are a bit prickly with current levels of bad debt and international call forward scams.

Guessing most know, but i only found out the other night  . If you double tap the home button it brings up your running apps from there you can close them.

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

On that note, with multi-tasking, if you have a app running in the background that utilises the GPS system, this will drain your battery much quicker than normal. I guess that will depend on how well the app has been developed, but in my experience that is often the cause of an overly quick battery drain.

I upgraded my iPhone 4 to 4.3.2 a few days ago as well and now you mention it, have noticed my battery being a little more drained than normal. However it's by no means as you describe. It could be that the new firmware is causing a greater draw of power. One way for you to check is to downgrade your firmware to 4.3.1 (or whatever firmware you had prior to 4.3.2). If you're developing an app for iOS then you'll probably know what you're doing, but if not PM me and I'll run you through it.

Going to try that when home on Monday, before doing a hard reset, again fully charged, off the charger today, barely touched it and dead by 6pm.... something not right!
