Sanjoy,
Yep, it's Bill's car. Sounds nasty, hope he gets well soon.

HTH.
160s didn't have a CR box as standard - major omission from Lotus....

Oh, and Steve. You'd be mad not to go Honda if you can. Seems like it's sorted - has been running almost as long as Ian Wilsons.

I'd really need to have seat time in an Audi car before recommending it to anyone (offers?

)
Elaine's car (same engine) doesn't suffer from lag, as you know it, but it's got a 'soft' throttle pedal - it's not linear and it feels disconnected somehow. It's bloody fast - in a drag race to 80 there's nothing in it between her car and my modded S1, so whacking the engine in an elise would be mind-blowingly quick....
Just not sure the power delivery wouldn't totally ruin the scalpel feeling of the Elise - plus the Audi lump is a bloody heavy old iron block boat anchor - it
will affect the handling...
If it was my (buckets of) cash, it'd be a Honda with view to supercharging some way down the road....

Of course for 20k you could get a VXR

Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.
....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Yep, the 330 reliable hp would tip the scales.
I suppose a drive in both that and an S/C Honda would make sense first, as I believe Scuffers is getting 310hp out of it now, and that, plus VTEC and 8,500rpm might have it over the turbo and 6500.
I remember Kelvin saying that the original N1 TUT with the Audi 330 was shooting past everything else on the track before it burnt out in the fire.
