It's very unlikely I'd want to return the car (even if I could) . . . I like it too much, even with this list of problems!

I've not had a problem with MMC after-sales or service in general. The staff have all been great so far and they've not damaged my car or anything like that. The thing I'm complaining about is that I have had a load of problems that really should have been caught before I even picked the car up, as they are things that should have been fixed during an inspection and service.

I dropped the car off this morning and the staff at the Edinburgh MMC have so far been very helpful and understanding. Should have the car back tomorrow. I'll let you know if they manage to resolve everything.

However, even if everything is resolved, it is always still worth complaining so that this doesn't happen to someone else in future and also due to the time, money and effort I've had to expend in getting these things resolved.

UPDATE:

Picked the car up today from Edinburgh MMC and everything is now sorted. They've ordered a new CD player for me under warranty and I need to pop back in when the new rubber seal they've ordered for my offside door pillar arrives. Still haven't been able to reduce the wind noise from the driver's door, but I can live with it for now and will investigate further myself to see if I can figure out where it's coming from. Apart from that, I'm now happy with everything.

The service at the Edinburgh MMC was excellent. I have no complaints whatsoever! John (Service Manager, I think?) was very helpful and friendly. Explained everything to me and clealry wanted to do everything he could to help. Ally (Lotus technician) was also extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. He listened to me explain all my problems with the car, came out with me in the car to hear the rattle and took the time to explain everything when I returned.

I therefore have no problem at all with the Edinburgh MMC service department. I would gladly take the car there again and would recommend them to anyone.

One thing this has highlighted though is the poor quality of service and inspeciton I've received from the Glasgow MMC. Although they can still do my services, I'll never take the car there again. I'm sticking with the Edinburgh branch.

This has also highlighted that I've been lied to by the Glasgow MMC. A couple of my problems were brushed off by the guys at the Glasgow MMC as being natural features of the car I have to put up with. In a few cases, they have actually lied to me. For example, they told me there was nothing wrong with my headlight alignment. Edinburgh MMC said the alignment was out and have fixed it for me. I've noticed a considerable difference and it's now the way it should be. Therefore, the Glasgow branch lied to me! This isn't the only example of them lying.

I'll therefore still be complaining to the Glasgow MMC about the poor quality of inspection before collecting the car and the poor after sales and service experience. I emailed a complaint to my salesman at the Glasgow MMC and have not even received an acknowledgement yet! I'll definitely be pursuing this further.

So, in summary:

Glasgow MMC: Very disappointed and will never use them again.
Edinburgh MMC: Excellent service and staff and will definitely continue to use them.
