I think that the rules on police high speed pursuits have changed in recent years. The driver is now only responsible for driving. The decision to abandon a chase when the situation gets too dangerous is now left to the central control. This makes sense because it's all too easy for the red mist to come down when you're chasing some scrote who is happy to put other people's lives at risk - it's easier to be objective from a distance.

My view on the subject is that it impossible to have a sensible discussion about safe high speed driving because of the current obsession with speed. I think people would drive better (and slower where it matters) if they were held accountable for their speed at all times - drive at 100 if you can show it was safe - get nicked for doing 30 when it isn't safe, etc.

I believe there are ten million of the little tadpoles in a single discharge, so not surprising that one made it through.

Not quite sure what happened in Shugs case though.
