There are a couple of REAL nice black 160's round this way (around 12K), but after being in Simons S2 at KH i *think* i will get an S2

*why cant i decide!!!!!
DRIVE them all.... Only way to be sure. To someone new to Elises, the differences are subtle, but important. Being driven in them depends a lot on the driver - you could have a pax ride in a pretty well sorted S2 being driven with gusto (a la Simon) but a pax from a dealer in a S160 might be crap on bad roads with a dealer driving. The Elise doesn't do anything for you, so it's character to a pax depends entirely on the driver in question....

Only thing to mention about the S160/S2 conundrum (apart from dealing with gay S2 chat ;)) is that the S160, being an in-demand special edition, will depreciate slower than a lower priced S2. And it's a blokes car :thumbsup

Last point - the 6 owners isn't necessarily a bad thing... The S160 is an aquired taste. Tends to be a bit rough round the edges and only comes into it's own when let loose. People can buy them as a first Elise and really not get along with them....

bosh, took the words right ou of my mouth :)

Si's S2 is a pretty well sorted machine, uprated suspension, sticky tyres, and an aerodynamic alteration in the form of a lost numberplate ;)

If I were doing it all again, I'd get a 160, they're just so special! However, lumpy idle issues could rule it out for you if you're an everyday driver. S2s are an obvious choice to a new owner as they're the newer model. Drive both. Buy an S1. Robert's your mother's brother :D

'lumpy idle issues could rule it out for you if you're an everyday driver.'

It would be the everyday car, altho the commute is only 4 miles, so it would really only be 'driven' at the weekend

I'll maybe take myself along to MMC and nose around for a test drive :)

Cheers for the tips ;)

4 miles? Cycle. Seriously. All you do is shag engines if you're running 4 miles most of the time. The car will never get out of it's warm up enrichment cycle - meaning it's running too rich all the time, coking up cylinders and killing cats. :(

This isn't just Elises - this is any car.... My G/f has a similar commute in a turbo car and I've lost count of the amount of arguments we've had over it...

If you *must* drive 4 miles there and back, look for something standard (S1 or S2) as the 160 will be a pig while it warms, therefore pretty much all the time you drive it. Therefore you'll get annoyed with it and hey presto - another owner in the logbook!

Shug - you're a saviour

I was going nuts looking for this app for my photos after my HD broke was replaced and the bloke in the little PC shop down the street reinstalled a copy of XP.

Where abouts in Invergowrie? I've a couple of mates who live in the newish flats at Alastair Soutar Crescent (I think). One has/had a Skoda Rapide  the other has a loud Corrado G60.

And where are you moving to? We're moving to the tech park in 6-8 weeks time after attempting to move into the farce that is the Vision building behind Tesco.
