I have just booked my flights for the new year period
Flying from Glasgow on Xmas day with my girlfriend to Dubai for 2 nights, then 2 nights in Hong Kong then into Bangkok. Returning direct from Bangkok back to Glasgow on the 17th January all for £600

Anyone got any good recommendations for Accomodation in New York?
Nic and I have booked our flights, now need to find some accommodation in NY, but fook me it is sooooooooo expensive for a really nice hotel. We are flying out on Christmas days and back on 1st Jan, so prices are silly anyway!
Any thought welcome, think i have checked out every website going, so clutching at straws!
Dave

I stayed at the Millennium UN Plaza when over there in April - it was a very nice hotel, food was good and the pool was on the 34th floor or something so had amazing views over NY.
I would guess anywhere is going to be £££ for those dates. I would stay there again though.

Just in case you don't know, have a look at
http://www.tripadvisor.com for some good reviews.
I am sure I stayed in the Belvedere. It was pretty good, reasonable and not too bad a location.

Been twice to NY over the Xmas period. Absolutely love it, great time of year to see it.
Always gone for moderate hotels as never find we're in them for long. Too much to see and rather eat in the deli's.
The New Yoker was ok, just round from ESB. Last year went to Park Central (think that's what it was called) on 7th and 55th (ish). About 2 blocks from Central Park and that part of 7th has got some great deli's. The best is Benash, well worth a visit for breakfast. Two Hiltons on the same stretch if that's more what your after.
This restuarant came highly recommended but never found time to get there

Beware the popcorn outlet just off Times Square with hideous sounding varieties, it's totally addictive

Craigslist and get a short let flat ? Last time I was there we had a friends apt for a week then a swanky hotel for a few nights.

Best of luck in finding accomodation in New York. We are going out from 16/11 to 24/11 and only decent hotel we could find was about 1200 notes as our trip conincides with Thanksgiving.
I'm out there from the 21st to the 25th - going to the Nicks game on the 24th at MAdison square gardens - Flights were £300 through BA

Sanjoy,
Craigslist? We have thought about a short let apartment, and would probably do the same, and get a really nice hote for 2 nights!

We're there 2/11 until 7/11, exec. suite at the Hilton New York (Rockerfeller). I don't think it was that expensive but I didn't book it...

Stayed at the Drake last year and was OK. Nice room and very central. Was on the expensive side but everything is.
While we are on travel advice does anybody know how I can get back from St Lucia the week before charismas. Finding a one way flight is proving difficult. Ideas and or links appreciated.

We stayed there too but weren't that impressed with the rooms tbh.
A bit 1970's.
THere was also a leather convention at the same time which was a tad uncomfortable.
Was only made bearable by the contestants for the beauty pagent.
