Re: LED Lights NLC
Just punched a few numbers into my calculator and come to the conclusion that for the 4 lights which we use the most, being the ones in the bark back hall area, that they will pay for themselves in about 7 months. well worth doing when you take into account the fact that they last much longer than conventional bulbs which aren't free and that they are probably a bit less than £20.
Still not a very interesting way to spend a usable sum of money.

It's probably small chips to some of the numbers ppl mute on here for utilities but I was no happy with my spend on gas and elec.
LEDs formed part of my home opex reduction.
Replaced the kitchen halogens as they were in loads as its the second lounge.
Took a punt on 4*4w 3 LEDs lights for £8.99 delivered from China. Bit stark against the stainless and will prob change then for warm at some point.
Some pics so you can see the colour.

I've purchased almost every brand of LEDs available for my own place and for many customers.
The wattage of the lamp isn't the important part it's the lumens output . I can't remember the figures but any GU10 Led lamps are no where near the output of a 50w halogen . Think halogen around 800 and best gu10 warm white around 370.
My customers seem happiest with these http://www.simplyled.co.uk/GU10-LED-Bul ... 23PJ5.aspx
The general consensus is that , as mentioned 3 small Cree lamps are better , however I seem to be getting the best results with the lamps above .
If you really want to replicate halogen you need to purchase the LED complete units at around £45 each
Cool white works well in some bathrooms etc but not practical , more for show. I have cool white on all of my external lighting , main bathroom and WC.
I would say you need to spend at least £12/13 per lamp , anything cheaper likely crap.

Which ones specifically Jamie? The NxtGen Series II ones?Jamie_84 wrote:My customers seem happiest with these http://www.simplyled.co.uk/GU10-LED-Bul ... 23PJ5.aspx
I have the "old" type SMD 5050 warm white dimmable shown at the top of the page which are a little disappointing, especially on a dimmer.

My local Aldi have warm 5W led GU10s in stock at £7.99, they look they the 3 led type so might be worth a test.

The tubes under the cabinets have finally popped and time to migrate them to LED too.

Prices have crashed got this mailer through.Titanium S1 111S (gla) wrote:Phil, those better be good for the price, it would cost me most of a grand to replace with them. If they are the cutting edge they will probably come down in price so it might be worth waiting.

Re: LED Lights NLC
If you're wanting LEDs with a natural colour you need to check their CRI rating (Colour Rendering Index). The higher the better.
A CRI rating of 95 is very good.. but pricey!
