Front row seat for that one please, lads. Sounds a bit Top Gear Challenge esque. Will you make a VW Beetle out of it when finished?

New 991 GT3

The 997 gtr clutch and gearbox were a joy to use. Tricky, required a bit of thought and familiarity.

There's no doubt the new ok'd will be a good bit easier and faster, but as its a track car, and not a race car, still don't fancy pdk. Which is nice as I'm thinking this must be about £130k on the road.

Engine sounds awesome, and I fancy a shot.

Really missed having a clutch when I got my original f430.

Evo have an interview with the chap behind the Gt3 - very interesting - shift times less than 100ms - quickest on the market apparently and the ability to totally disengage the clutch to help get it sideways.....maybe its going to be quite special :D

Must admit it looked very nice on the stand in Geneva :-)

However was on the RUF stand and their Boxster with the 3.8 Carrera S engine was the one that I liked most, the guy said he preferred it to their more powerful cars. He even fits 18 to his caymans so know how to make a Porsche handle

nope - hoping to have some info on it this week, but realistically dont see myself buying one for a while.

It may be better than my 997, but i love it.

Also if i buy another 2 seater car its just going sit depreciating in the garage.

Lots of travel on this year with work, a few track cars already (Honda Elise might even appear soon), too many road cars - so something would have to go, and I might wait for the RS??!! Who knows.

Also 458 prices are starting to get to this level, and i quite fancy one  or a Murcie  . My wife thinks I have a car buying issue

Still will be happy to have a shot when someone gets one :D

How do you find the running costs on the GT3 ? Are they on a par with C2S or different league ? I pay my mortgage off next year on the Stockbridge flat, which is currently let out, and have looked at 997 GT3 as a possible crazy treat to myself. I don't figure there's much more depreciating to do on a £50k example and its one of the few cars I'd part with my S1 for...in a flash.

Hi Jeremy

Its actually really good. The major service is a bitch circa £1300 or so, and tyres, brakes (discs & pads) etc arent cheap either, but actually running it has been relatively pain free. It even manages 30mpg on the m-way.

All the parts are more expensive the the C2 stuff, but then you'd expect that.

Its been a joy to own

Thanks Andy that sounds scary numbers in my world but I'm guessing its on 2 year service intervals so for what you're getting to drive I suppose the numbers are actually quite reasonable.

It's just a pipe dream at the moment but I'm determined to buy something special like a GT3 so will contact you nearer the time for some more information if I decide to pursue it further.
