Steve.
Hi All

After having been involved in the calendar since we started it for 2008, I've enjoyed putting it together over the years (and I know you've all loved my "we need more photos" and "please pay now" emails) , however having not had a Lotus for more than 2 years, I feel that it's time for me to bow out. I'm only an occasional visitor to SE these days and no longer have the time to commit to putting this together and getting it posted out for December. Should someone take over and need any help or info, then please feel free to pm me.

Karen
Karen, thanks for replying to my PMs.

"Hello Karen,

Thanks for the reply and for all your work over the years with the calendar. It's dissapointing to hear that you weren't planning on doing another calendar, but I totally understand how stressful it would be getting pictures and money from others. I had friends round the other night and one of them asked about the calendar, which reminded me about the struggle last year getting photographs posted, hence my post trying to get a few pictures looked out in advance.

Thanks again for all your work and hopefully someone will step in and carry on with the calendar.

Cheers,

Steve"

It has always seemed to be that it was pictures from that year. Would it not be simpler and result in more pictures if it was just for Lotus from any time other than current ownership or from the past year?
Would likely yield a far greater return of pictures as well and cover more variants.

I'll easily do it, plenty time on my hands when I am home, let me check and I'll post prices and types.

Some nice photos so far :)

As usual, I spent my time behind the wheel not taking photos, so not a great selection to choose from, in fact all from the same day

If someone (Steve?) can organise the voting for which pictures to include in this years calendar then I will get it printed when I get back. Don't have time, as I am away today, to sort out which photo's but will easily do the leg work once it's all sorted. TIA

Mike, not sure how to include pictures and the voting?????

There must be an easier way instead of me having to save each picture to my own Flickr account.

Moderators, advice would be appreciated. :thumbsup

Only 35pictures posted so far, so if you would like Mike to organise a SE calendar this year, well we need more pictures please!!!!!!!

Campaganza, Frolic, Knockhill, surely we can all chip in with a couple of pictures each.

Thanks,

Steve.

I wrote this up a couple of years back...does it help?
I've written this up to save the next poor soul who compiles the calendar from having to work it out from scratch again ;-)

1) Before you start, scan the year's calendar pics thread for entries. Save them to local disk in month folders if poss for easy sorting.

Guidelines for sorting:

- aim for 6 pics per month

- reasonable spread of car types, photographers

- try to avoid sets of pics from the same entrant at the same location etc

- avoid portrait format

- focus on Lotus and derivatives...much as we love em, Scoobies and Evos etc etc are out of place in a Lotus calendar!

2) Upload in month batches to folders in photobucket or similar (SE photobucket account is scottish_elises, password lotus, freely accessible although I think the account may be tied to simon arnot's yahoo account?)

3) In the calendar photos forum, post New Topics for December, November, etc in that order so that January is at the top. In each topic, include a poll with the relevant number of options matching the number of pics to be voted for in that month. Then link and number the images from the photobucket account so that they display inline in the thread.

4) Post a new topic to finish this off "20xx Calendar" with voting instructions etc.

5) Then go to the General Chat forum and also post a new topic "SE 20xx Calendar" featuring 2 links. One to the calendar pics forum itself, for voting, and one to the 20xx Calendar thread which contains the instructions.

6) In the Gallery forum, post a new topic "20xx+1 Calendar pics" with instructions for posting entries for the following year's calendar.

You'll have to ask Karen about printing, taking orders and dispatching though!
