Still a good looking car for it's age

I used to have a red '92 S2 back in the day, was a great car, used it for the winter so I didn't use my Esprit, was a great car, I had no issues with it what so ever in over a year, far grippier than the Esprit in the wet too.... How are you finding the fuel consumption, low to mid 20s?

I think so too, plus they are a relatively uncommon sight now. I think the S2 / Turbo front end helps, though I can't help but feel the back looks a good few years older than the front, probably those distinctive light clusters!
I think it helps that it they didn't make a bunch of similar looking cars over 6 decades as they did with the 911, obviously there is the 924, earlier 944 and later 968, all of which I think still look good.

I'm largely ignoring the fuel consumption so far.. The tank seems rather large too, so I haven't managed to empty it yet - well, I'm finding it hard to adjust to going back to a regular fuel gauge when all our other cars for the past few years have range metres or at least digital gauges! I suspect it'll be the least economical car I've ever owned either way. I haven't managed to use it all that much either, it doesn't help that I now own too many cars, and only work 7 miles away!

I'm enjoying the wet performance too, definitely more confidence inspiring than the Elise.

The steering wheel was a surprise, I thought it'd be terrible and was ready to get it re-trimmed, but at the same time, didn't really want a shiny new blue steering wheel surrounded by the rest of a 25 year old leather interior, so gave it a go. I'm pleased it turned out so well :)

So, here we are 5 months on, and I'm probably a little bit too proud to say...
It's just passed an MOT first time, with nothing but a petrol treatment to get the emissions down! :blackeye

In 5 months, I've managed about 2000 miles in it, which I don't think is too bad considering the time of year.
Other than the above noted bits, I've also added a modified headlight loom which uses a relay to remove the headlight switch from the lighting circuit as I was reading 9v at the bulb and not seeing quite as much as you'd like in the dark (and a pair of Osram nightbreakers).

I've also had to WD40 the old VW handles as they were sticking (to the point that I was stuck I the car as the central locking wouldn't disengage!)

The plan is still to use and enjoy it for now, though it may become more of a project when my Elise isn't in 100 pieces!
