Yes, it is for insurance purposes. Suspect I am onto a loser though ... I currently have unlimited cover ... though I went to great lengths to describe the property to them to make sure they were happy to cover it. I have a much cheaper policy available, but it has an upper cap on rebuild cost and I suspect ours will exceed that. So I need to work out by how much and decide whether to cover the "extra" myself (only makes sense if relatively small amount) or whether to just renew with the next cheaper option (3x the premium!).
