As you infer Pete, if we go by media coverage, you'll only see some narrow and often manipulated angles.

The IAM press dept may not be helping either.

But my experience of the IAM (mainly during my training) was much more constructive than driving gloves and wheel-shuffling.

There've been a couple of articles recently where I've read the IAM being anti-speeding. I'm not sure what they were setting out to achieve by publicising very high speeders though.

Although you know, 190 - good effort.

I don't think they are anti speeding, more anti inappropriate speed.

It's not as if driving flat out is even impressive, a cement block on the throttle has all the skill required, why bother filming it.

I have actually been caught driving flat out once, it was downhill on the Stonehaven dual carriageway, twenty year ago in a Mercedes G wagen.... 89mph. It was a shame he didn't wait another miles or so, it could only manage 65 up next hill. :D
