Agree with the comment about tyres, AO48's in the wet are hopeless. When the rear twitches at the top of 4th gear on the slight left hander between Clarks and the Hairpin you really take a bite out the seat...

My S1 in the wet was ok, less power and proper road tyres made it behave nicely but for me with track tyres on an Exige S it has to be dry.

I will look out the picture i have of the mighty VX at Spa, in very heavy rain, what a blast. Think they red flagged it a few times for standing water, but i didnt mind.

Think that was on my "40th bash" trip Nov 2010?

Obviously best track day I've ever had. After the 2nd or third track closure I went to complain to the organisers. "But the Seven boys can't keep it on the track", they tell me. "Tough, that's their problem not mine. My S1 on road tyres and suspension is doing just fine thanks. And it's my birthday. Get it open!"

I swear I had the place to myself several times. Magic.

Thanks be to Robin for doing a lot to make that trip happen for me. Including the Walshy day en route :-)

Well that's one way to describe it.

And yes it was. What a start to the trip.

It finished in 4 inches of snow from Moffat to Larkhall on the M74. Remember that too?!

All good clean fun.

Got through the worst of it over the border then slid off at low speed on the straight.

Sometimes it can be a little too wet....

But in general I like a fully wet day that drys over time. As said above, you learn the cars behaviour much quicker. :thumbsup

An opportunity to put your money where your mouth is?
Knockhill this Sunday 10-2, £99, forecast wet, still showing places available on KH website.
This date replaces last saturday which was cancelled due to snow but was fully booked.
I'm there

Like so many things in life, it's better the wetter it isser.

Who remembers that Croft track day we did years ago where it just bucketed down. I managed a complete 360 on the start finish straight and kept going in a straight line. More by luck than judgement. That was when I discovered a fault in the installation of my windscreen. Water would pool right at the end of the wiper's reach and every 30 seconds or so I'd get a spurt of water in my face. I had a sponge jammed in there for months until the damp stink was too much for me. That required a new windscreen to fix!

Indeedy. First lesson was wear a full face helmet!

A few years ago during the cold winters, the outdoor karting place at Cambuslang put spiked tyres on their karts for ice karting. It was really great fun... pity it was only the rears they put the spiked tyres on, necessitating some extreme positioning on the kart to get them turned in.
