A clam AND toe links will definitely write it off.

He didn't make it through to the wheel but the bodywork and the arch liner were rubbing the tyre until i pulled it back off it. So I think it's just the clam, the under tray and the number plate holder thingy that are damaged, pretty lucky really as if he'd snapped the toe link i'd be immobile at the moment  she's still drive-able so will go see Craig in a bit with it for his diagnosis.

No, nobody stopped, that is worrying me at the moment if I'm honest  I might try going through his insurance directly as opposed to going through mine to find the lay of the land, is that what you would recommend, or just get my insurance to sort it out?

I was told if they deny it then I'll need to pay my excess and not get a hire car but a courtesy car from the repairer, if I want to use a garage not on their list I need to pay a further £250 to use my own garage, I was hoping to get it to Jamie Mullen in PortSeton or willowbrae but they want me to use JM Accident Repairs  anyone heard of them? I'd rather use someone I know can do fibreglass without issue

I was forced into using JM Accident repairs a long time ago and couldn't reccomend them. They may have improved or offer a better level of service now though.

As it is John Martin Repairs I thought that Craig put the cars into Willobrae which was the one that JM used, or do they also have their own.

Never heard of this £250 extra before - sounds like a piss take.

Usually all you get is the usual BS about repair work being warranted etc, but having had my lovely Alfa 156 "fixed" at Arnold Shark Fiat once, never again. Go with who you know and trust :thumbsup

This one is in Bonnyrigg outside Edinburgh, not sure I want them to do it if I'm honest  I'd be more comfortable with Willowbrae or Jamie who are used to Elises... But £250 to do so at this time of year, hmmmmmmm......

Pretty sure you're entitled to have it repaired wherever you want, so I'd push back hard on the £250 - as Ross says, sounds like a total crock.

I actually think that legally they cannot force a repairer on you. Check your insurance small print though. Very possible such a clause is in there in which case you'll struggle.

Totally agree with all this, but their get out will be that they can offer perhaps two or three options in your area.

And also would not be surprised if there's small print someplace which you've signed or agreed to electronically.

Still worth asking the question though, and enforcing the fact that it requires specialist repairs from a specialist repairer, being GRP.

Oh and get tape on it asap to stop water damage to the fibre. Increases chances of repair.
