Re: How long have you had your Lotus
That's pretty interesting to see how long some of us have had our cars. I do sometimes think about selling mine as i do not get out in it as often as i would like. However every time i do get out the smile factor changes my mind. I suppose its the only car i have had that is worth more than I paid for it ten years ago. I do not think there are many sports cars out there that do that.

10 years next month, been through a few "incidents" along the way but still going strong.

Re: How long have you had your Lotus
I saw mine for the first time on my 25th birthday, I went home and did some maths then bought it a couple of days later, though I then went on holiday before collecting it.
I'm 34 and a half now so I'm up to 9.5 years, in fact it'll be exactly 9 years and 6 months since I collected it on Thursday.
Like others, I've been through a few other cars meanwhile, including 5+ years with the VX220.
Also, like others, I tend to keep hold of things. I had my Mini for 6+ years before the Elise (then bought it back..)
Have had the Alfa for 3 or 4 years now too.
The Elise is the real keeper though.
Really need to get my finger out and sell on my 944 - anyone fancy a classic Porsche with some free rust?

Mine looks and drives significantly better than the day I bought it now!!Stu160 wrote:looks, and drives as good today as it did the day I bought it.![]()

Re: How long have you had your Lotus
Always had one since I was 23 up until I sold my S1 to fund Ali @ SLS's debts
. Took me a further 4 years to get back on my feet and recover to the point I could buy the one I have now (S2 Sport 135)
Longest I've owned one was my 88 Turbo Esprit which I had for 13 years prior to buying my S1 111s which I think I had for 2 years, I also had a '99 V8 Esprit for 2 years from mid 2000 to 2002.

Re: How long have you had your Lotus
13 yrs in an Esprit wins the prize so far I reckon
Stew, know what you mean.
I'm on a project in Perth for the whole of this month. There are 4 ways home. M90 with Forth Bridge, A9-M9, A9 with Glendevon and Clacks Bridge, or Cherrybank-Dunning-Muckhart which is like a private Hillclimb.
The Elise always picks the last one, and even driven at 5/10ths it's bloody lovely.
Just need to fund a new rad and head gasket, ARB bushes, front brakes / dampers and tidy the bodywork and she'd be like new!!

Re: How long have you had your Lotus
Oh god, just did a quick count of the cars I've had over the last 45 years........I'm up to 48 and I'm sure I've probably missed some. Started with a Ford Anglia and now on Evora, an S1 plus a couple of others.
Think I have a bit of an issue with cars, and I wondered why the first wife left me

9.5 years and counting.
My daily driver, gets used all year (unless it's physically buried by snow) for all occasions.
