Andy,

Touareg looks a good buy at the price. VW, touch wood always have good reliability. If the Touareg had 4 circles on the front you would pay £15k more and have to wait 6 months for one!

You might get a deal on an X5 with the new model coming along. I've run an X5 3.0d for a couple of years and it's never missed a beat.

Cheers

Clarkie

I've heard good things about them plus I think they're far more subtle than the likes of the Cayenne, X5 etc.

All the bits in them are tried and tested - engine's a stock VAG group part, the 4wd is the same as the Cayenne's (I believe), not a great deal to go wrong.

Is it still under warranty? If so, then go for it.

My neighbour, a farmer, has the V10 version and has lots of problems with it. However, his really does spend 75% of its time in fields.

yep. VW Toureg. (please excuse this next passage as I may offend some people... ) VW is a good reliable marque that doesn't quite have enough wa*k appeal for the proper chelsea tractor ponces. they'd prob think a VW is a bit too much of a car of the people(excuse the pun). hence, they'd get a RR/cayenne etc. kind of like buying a 1 series BMW. only bought for the perceived badge superiority, totally ignoring the fact that the golf is better and cheaper.

(all IMHO of course, and apologies for any offence. sadly though, we live in a world consumed by stereotypes..  they are fun though   )
