gorrie

You have that spot on. Mine is a classic example, and though it does not affect me too much as most of my income is tax free because it is a War Pension, my actual taxable income is £11.5K a year.

So officially I am in the poverty band if that is all I had to live on, so by abolishing the 10% band, I pay an extra £120 tax per year.

Not sure what the cut off line is before the new 20% becomes beneficial, but I would say that anybody earning below £14K/annum will be worst off.

Someone earing £35K/annum will be around £770 better off.

Some Socialist Party.

Neither do I.... but he's dropped a bollock on the lower paid which I think is a very poor show.

I agree with the higher rate tax band being increased, as it has not been rising in line with salaries for years. Had he imposed a new 'super-rate' tax bracket of 45% (or maybe even 50%) for earnings over, say £125K, and left the 10% bracket for the less well off... the upshot would have been that the lower paid would have been no worse off, and the govt would have still been able to recoupe money from the individuals that don't mind blowing a grand on a casino night with the boys.

What is the road tax on a 163g/km K series Elise Series 2? If I'd taxed my Series 1 yesterday I would've saved a fiver... up to £180 now.

Why don't they get rid of car tax altogether, Put a MOT disc on you windscreen and then put 0.1p onto a liter of petrol/diesel?

£142 better off - and I told the truth about drinking.

I need new tyres anyway so I guess Gordon is paying.

Or I might just spend it on Satan’s urine (or petrol as the rest of us call it).

Because that approach makes sense and is fair so they can't possibly do that. Also, why do that when you can put road tax AND fuel tax up?

What's the score with cars over 225G/km, that were registered prior to March 2006? The new G-Band is from 226G/km upwards, and my MG is 227!!... but it was registered in 2004. No idea what band that means it will be. If it's a G-Band, then I might have a good case with the wife to trade it in

My Elise 'just' sneaks in band E at 185G/km.
