The Boag Family spent a week on that Canal in gloriously sunny weather.
Couldn't help thinking it would have been pants......if it was raining
Our longboat had a seventies Leyland Sherpa diesel which produced a great wake over 5 knots upsetting the zipper jacketed perverts (fishermen) who sit motionless for hours on the canal bank.
Going over the famous Aquaduct with no protective barriers and two curious infants.....was something else.
We also managed to fill chemical toilet within 4 days..........An indication of how successful the holiday was??

Don't forget your power to weight will improve too. Whats that then, 50bhp divided by 20,000 kg minus a turd or 2....

My dads had a boat for years but some are wider than others ( brother in law builds/sells them @ liverpool boats ) always check or you will get stuck on the langollon vivaduct and get a very big bill afterwards
the old leyland engine is regarded as one of the best, cheap to run and no belts to change like the ford
if you do fall in the boat can crush you against the bank and they weigh quite a few ton
