They stopped making 1.3 Gta's in 1989 that's only 18 years ago if your younger than that I'm so sorry but you must have had one hell of a paperround!ExigeKen wrote:What the fcuk is this have a go at Ken's age sh1tBiggestNizzy wrote:the Gti is a 16v with front shocks (normal metro's only have hydagas) and anti roll bars, it also has a close ratio gearbox both are k-series do not touch an old 1.3 gta it's older than Ken!gorrie wrote:Is the GTi better than the GTa? Soem are suggesting the GTA was K-series... but it was only A-series as I remember it. Or was there a K-series version too in the mid 90s?
I did worse than a GTA
I owned a Metro turbo for a wee while in the late 80's... worse still, it was the all-white model (wheels, bumpers, etc) AND, if that wasn't bad enough... the previous owner had put the 80s-standard red 'turbo' sticker across the rear window!!
Was a cracking fun car when it worked - but the garage's warranty saw 2 gearbox rebuilds and a re-bore and the hydragas needed recharging every 6 mths.
Oh, and the white really showed off the rust nicely...

There was a very well sorted 106 Rallye at the SIDC Alford Sprint last year, was very fast IIRC, looked an absolute hoot to drive, cocking its rear wheel on all the corners.

The metro that went on to become the Rover 100 used the K series I reckon. The late GTAs were definitly 1.4 8v K Series as someone on here said.BiggestNizzy wrote:I still have a setrossybee wrote:You forgot to mention the red seatbelts...jasonliddell wrote:Soem are suggesting the GTA was K-series... but it was only A-series as I remember it. The Motor Heritage museum at Gaydon has a circa 1995 Mini prototype that was built approx 4-5 inches wider using the metro front subframe and hosting that 1.4 K-series. Shame it never went into production, imagine how much easier it would have been to fit a 2litre VVC K-series into a Mini then!
Oh, I still have a set of red metro belts too I think, and I never owned a Metro
