Aye, thats my modeling career over.

Spoke to the specailist yesterday, real cheery f*cker. The radial nerve was cut above the elbow, this moves your hand/fingers up. He basically said there is very little chance i will get that back. Looking at further operations to move tendans around (Over a years time). Still keeping my finger crossed, left ones anyway.

Due to the injury and the fact I can't drive, we have decided to sell the Elise. No point in having it sitting in the garage doing nothing, depressing me. Probably use the money on a deposit for a new house.

Hope to see most of you tomorrow at Amp3.

This is a tough break, Alan.

I would be tempted to keep the Elise in the garage though. It's going to cost next to nothing, Jen can keep its fluids moving occasionally, and it will act as the strongest incentive yet for you to make a good recovery.

I know a lot of people say mind over matter is piffle but there is a lot to be said for taking a positive attitude and having a really worthwhile goal to reach. I can't think of one much better than climbing into your home-built tango orange in a few months and giving her the beans.

C'mon mister :-)

I know what you mean but the house is really getting us both down. Moved in 2 years ago and its been nothing but trouble, thanks to some dodgy work by the previous owner. The plan is to get all the work finished and move, a fresh start really.

Will you be at AMP3 ?

Fcuk off Alan.

You are taking the worst aspect at this stage without any idea of how it could turn out. I did not lose the partial use of my arm in 2005, I lost the use of my body below the chest. I had an op that could have paralysed me completely, but fortunately it gave me a few years breathing space. Instead of selling N1, I bought N3 as well.

It is a sh*t situation, but give it some time before you take decisions like that. Things like this are not carved in stone, they can go either way.

Won't be at the trackday sadly, not enough time off available, but currently in negotiations re: the BBQ so you never know :-)

Don't kneejerk on the Elise. Take your time. Maybe you can use it for collateral for a bigger mortgage ;-)

Alan you need to slow down a little. Like tut says things can go either way so just take your time, inevitable that you will get times when you are pissed off but losing the car is not the answer I truly believe it will make matters worse. You have so much friends on here which have been through the car, it tends to define who you are, not something you can turn off.

I think we need to think about things realistically. We need to get out of this house, and soon. Its making us really unhappy. Its given us many bad memories, and I still cant go into the room where the accident happened. It makes me feel sick.

I have been against selling the Elise up until now, but Alan's recovery can go two ways. Either not being able to drive a car on track for 1-2 years or not being able to drive one at all. Either way, the car is sitting there doing nothing, when it could be turned into cash for our next (and hopefully happier) home. It will of course be heartbreaking to see it go (im tearing up as I type this) but we need to do whats best for our future. If, in time, Alan does regain use of his hand and is able to drive on track again, we'll just buy another one. :thumbsup

Of course, its not going in PH tomorrow, it will be a whiley yet, so if the situation does change, we can re-assess our plans. At the moment though, this is where we are at.

I feel like Im on a roller coaster ride. One day its good, Alan is home and is looking better and is getting better movement in his arm, the next day we're being told by a Dr that there is no hope of his tendons will last as long as it will take the nerve to grow back, so will not have proper movement in his hand. It's so frustrating even for me, never mind for Alan. I'm just hoping his Wolverine-ness super quick healing powers will take over and his nerve will grow back ultra quick before the tendons liquify! Gads.

Jen
