Would this concern you if you were buying a new Lotus?

No way, assuming Dave and I are of similar ability, N3 laps in the same times as his R400.
They have the R300 2 secs faster than the Exige.

Re: Would this concern you if you were buying a new Lotus?
I'd have thought R400 would be quicker round most circuits with same driver
Re: Would this concern you if you were buying a new Lotus?
it is only a 1.20 sec lap so 3 seconds is a LOT, R400 v 211 - baa hair.shooomer wrote:I'd have thought R400 would be quicker round most circuits with same driver

I meant against tut's Elise

I think it is worth bearing in mind that the GT3 time is a GT3 RS 4.0, a car that has 493 bhp and a power to weight ratio of 365 bhp/ton where as the Exige is 345 bhp and a power to weight ratio of 293 bhp/ton so really 3 seconds off isn't so bad. Not to mention the fact that GT3 RS 4.0 are changing hands in the region of £150k so nearly triple the cost.Scotty C wrote:3 seconds slower then a GT3
I'd be interested to see what the Exige Cup R would do given it is 100kg lighter and is slightly more powerful, I think that would be a fairer comparison to the RS 4.0 even though it still comes in at half the cost.
A few more times for the circuit by the same driver:
New Boxster S = 1.25.11
Elise S = 1.26.11
BMW 1M = 1.26.50
Also according to fastestlaps.com (don't know how factual they are) a 2-Eleven does it in 1:23.60

a very quick google reckons an R300 is the same laptime as a 211 around Spa, so by that reckoning, it should be 2 seconds faster than the Exige V6 at that track.
Either way, its no slouch.

Re: Would this concern you if you were buying a new Lotus?
I think these times are all a bit subjective, different drivers/track conditions.
Anecdotally I was easily able to lap with a 911 GT3 RS 4.0 at Spa (so long as I wasn't baulked La source -> Les Combes or Stavelot -> Bus Stop). Conversely with AndyG as extra ballast we overtook an MP4-12C...but he was probably quite rightly cautious of stuffing it in the gravel.
I think the Exige S will prove to be properly quick but I doubt quite as fast or as much fun as a 2-11...great road car and fine for the occasional trackday but can't have the same track focus.
For a serious trackday outing one thing I do know is who would have the bigger bill (tyres/brakes/fuel).
