Unless any of those fancy-pants watches contain the technology to deal with these bad-boys, then they're never going to be accurate enough for my liking...

I'm not convinced 'to the minute' accuracy really comes in to the equation when purchasing a watch, let alone 'to the second'. It's an emotional purchase.

If accuracy really is the main reason for purchase, then for the money, I don't reckon you can beat Casio's Wave Ceptor with it's radio controlled automatic update 6 times per day.

Thought about getting the black/yellow one, but then I'd need to get one of those winding cases for the Tag you guys were talking about... and that's when I'd get in to bother coz I'd need to fill it

Very true :thumbsup

I am currently wearing one of these watches, bought for £4.99 in the Argos sale, whilst my Rolex is away for servicing. It feels like it's been hewn from solid tinfoil but it's no exaggeration to say that it is much more accurate than the Rolex.

Nice timing Greg ! Rolex have just announced a 12.5% price increase from 1 October across the board, but an 18% increase for the Daytona chronograph.... and that's on top of the 10% increase they applied across the board in March earlier this year. Hearing a few Rolex fans or potential buyers are starting to think again and no wonder at 25/30% increases, particularly in these times.

Oh, and my Sinn 956 (pic on page 13) arrived at the weekend. Absolutely stunning and v pleased :D 8) Doubt I’ll see another one as only 12 sold in UK by the single authorised dealer over last 5 years.

Congrats on the Sinn DJ, looks rather 8)

In light of that revelation about the price increases, this Rolex fan and potential buyer will be thinking again too. I have my name down for a Daytona at the moment but 18% is a huge increase and I'm not sure if I'd be prepared to swallow it.

There are decent discounts to be had on the Omega Planet Ocean which would make it just over 1/3rd of the price of a Daytona.

Sinn AD for UK and Ireland is Chronomaster. Here is a link to the website, but a warning EElise; looking at this website can (potentially) seriously damage your wealth

In Laings today putting mine in for a service (£290 ffs!) Won't get it back for 12 weeks and nearly tempted in to buying a Brietling Emergency but they didn't have the co-pilot module. Also a good stock of Bell & Ross 8)

Dan

Go and have a look at your nearest Omega dealers.......then come back and tell me what you fancy(model no etc) ... and I will get a price/availability from the trade. (Some Omega dealers will discount up to 30%)
This is the wrong time of the year to get special deals though.........with Christmas looming

Dan, I was using this as a benchmark : http://authenticwatches.com/2218-50-00.html and the 30% discount that Mr Boag speaks off would bring it down to about the same price as this.
