They could write a song about it:-

"So ferry 'cross the Forthie
'cause this land's the place I love
And here I'll stay"

only reason the SNP get bashed is coz they are useless and deserve it.

As for the bridge - I can see if u push something 2 months late, u could enter a "no work" time of year and so extend by nonlinear amount...
however.. they said it was on time in May - and the weather has been fantastic since - so its ballocks, they were lying again.

i wonder if the new bridge will have a more secure feeling - the barriers on the old one have always felt dodgy - the angles and virtually no space from road to gaps in the barriers must set off peoples vertigo.

the kincardine new bridge is great to drive over.

Lovely shot Jim.

Just that wee gap to close on the south viaduct.

Oh and the hole torn in the central reserve of the old one :-/

Where will the fourth Forth bridge go in 25 years time when they realise the 3rd is starting to crumble as it was wasnae specc'ed for the warming of the waters and climate due to the pollution from the extra cars in the area for 25 years? Just glad it wasnae built by a UK housebuilder........

I'm more concerned that once the new one is open the old one will be neglected and we will have a problem when something happens to it or it needs maintenance. More so given that the current administration elected not to maintain it when it was the only one available!
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

A coastal marine environment is one of the most corrosive conditions that man made structures will be built in, not to mention notoriously difficult to maintain. All thanks to mother nature herself.

Curious to know why a tiny degree of warming and some unspecified pollution is going to demolish it in a fraction of its lifespan? :D

Well, it sure knackered the first Forth road bridge in a fraction of its lifespan :)
I guess I have little faith in modern builders.....

Have faith in the builders. I expect there will be nothing wrong with the design or build. The bureaucracy of the politicians in charge is terrifying though. They will f it up at the first opportunity.

Kind of highlights the piss poor state of scottish politics

If the bridge is ontime then it is proof that we should be independent

if the bridge is late then it proves we shouldn't be independent

All it really proves is the SNP tactic of screaming about independence and nothing but independence works perfectly to distract from them being incompetent idiots. Remove the saltire from their hands and they are just as hopeless as the rest of them
