LOL! Are you in Livingston? I threatened to swing by Parko's place tomorrow while he is changing his Exige engine. Not to help (I've NO IDEA on that kind of advanced surgery!), just to laugh
However not sure if I'll be out and about or not. Drop me a PM with an address though...you never know. It would indeed by good to catch up.

PS - by the same token if you are likely to be passing through Linlithgow, we are generally around most evenings. Now Lisa would NOT turn down a chance to see the Evora, I am sure. I will wear a blindfold...

I can still allocate a few slots out of the initial 80 for the 2012 Exige if anyone else wants to take the leap! If we wait until driving one in January when the press gets them and when we get our demo, it will probably be towards the end of summer next year until we see it depending on the order mix. Remember there is a full range again...boynerT72 wrote:I've heard all 80 are gone now....and i dont think the first ones will be ready to drive until December, by which time you will already have had to commit to speccing the car otherwise you will forfeit your build slot.
We are also allocating build slots for the Elise S.
Re: New V6 Exige pics
So popped into MMC today to have a wee look around and reacquaint myself with the stock. A big thanks Brandon for allowing my wee lad to have his first seat in an Exige
Sounds like the new Exige is selling at a rate of knots, best of luck to Lotus with the new model , cant wait to see it up close.

I went into MMC today to have a look at the "Toy Shop". I was asking Brandon about the new exige. I was trying to convince myself that putting my name down for one of the initial build slots was a good idea. Yep £50k is a lot for a car but I was trying to work out that, if they were of very limited supply in the UK, they may well hold their value well and that you may have the pleasure of driving one for 6 months or so before selling it for very little of a loss. Do you think that this is complete nonsense and irrespective of "limited" numbers, there will still be a reasonable amount of depreciation when you drive off the forecourt?shooomer wrote:I'm too scared to buy new and will picked up a used one.
The most expensive Evora on Pistonheads is £70,450 and cheapest 2011 supercharged is £46,750!!
I do wonder if elises/exiges have a natural level at which they plateau i.e S2 elise £12k, S/C Exige £22k, S1 elise £8k. I am not sure how much the RGB exiges cost but pretty sure there will have seen a good 10%-15% depreciation in the first few months. Will the same happen to the V6?
99% sure that I wont be signing up for a new V6 but just wondered if anyone else is thinking along the same lines regardless of whether they intend to purchase one.
I still think a S1 exige at about £22k might provide the safest depreciation proof ownership over the next 10 years. Now if I could just find one in laser blue ....

An s1 exige over a ten year period is going to cost a lot more to run than any of the other models you mentioned. One maybe two rebuilds.Stewart wrote:I do wonder if elises/exiges have a natural level at which they plateau i.e S2 elise £12k, S/C Exige £22k, S1 elise £8k. I don't think there is any way to predict what will happen Stewart.Stewart wrote: Stuff
What Lotus does with the new Exige will dictate the depreciation. If it truly is built in limited numbers the prospects are good (as per S1 Exige, 340R, Europa). But even then it is likely to be a long term prospect, unless demand outstrips supply - but if that is the case I can't see Lotus missing out, they will keep building to cash in (and why not
In my opinion the only way to approach it is to buy it cos you want /can afford it, and factor in depreciation as normal - if it does well its a bonus. If it doesnt you have a crackin car that you bought to use/ keep and not to make a quick buck.

I think that all depends what you use it for. Many of the S1 exiges I've known were far from standard - so pushed to the edge with the inevitable consequences. I'm not going to tempt fate by making relaibility claims, but you only tend to hear about the disasters, and the ones I know of have either seen a hard life or been taken to a higher risk level. On a cost per mile basis the exige has been my cheapest for the last 2 years, depreciation makes a big difference when you work the stats.

Burn me at the stake, but that second shot is the first I've seen of it that just doesn't work for me. I think it needs a bold colour, as the swoopy panels between the sharp lines make me feel a bit 'kit car' about its look. Flat colours definitely better...

Meh, I thought the lines worked much better in that 'in the flesh' pic than the motorshow ones. Suits the black panel on the rear as well.
P.S. No burning at stakes in these parts shug.

Agreed, I think it looks better in the bold flat colours. I was a little dissapointed by those pics, a little like the first Noble (nice at the time but dated now). Who is going to be first to order a Chrome Orange one
