Just been told (after 2hrs on the phone) that they won't offer us a mortgage because we live above a pub/shop

That's the number I called! They have agreed that 3 weeks is now possible and that it will be marked urgent/fast tracked. But the fact that we have commercial property on the ground floor might be our latest problem.....

Not yet mate. Thought that I was getting somewhere with the Woolwich - but as it turns out I wasn't! Currently trying to argue my way out of the redemption penalty and then Karen might be my next port of call!!
Thanks for her details
Cheers,
John

Not quite. The fuedal system was abolished on 28 November 2004. Scottish property is held on a "freehold" basis although the term "freehold" is not commonly used.BigD wrote:John, all Scottish properties are Fuedal which is completely different to Freehold and leasehold. They are English terms.
I've spoken to the call centre on 0845 076 0169, don't know what number you are using. They told me 3 weeks and that it would fast track.
Try direct line or the like for your b&c.
Not that it matters a dam.

Was trying to keep it simple and not confuse the situation even more.Titanium S1 111S (gla) wrote:Not quite. The fuedal system was abolished on 28 November 2004. Cheers guys! I think I had thoroughly managed to confuse the woman by the end of the phone call.
Just spoken to someone at HBOS (thanks Lewis - X7LDA) who says that there won't be a problem with the flat being over a shop/pub and that the timescale seems perfectly manageable too. Going in to see her at 1pm on Monday to get the ball rolling.
Thanks to everyone for their advice (especially BigD), it has been really useful. Will hopefully be able to let you know ASAP that everything has been sorted /can't find a smiley for fingers crossed/
