and the ABS, internal door locks and electric windows are the pink feather boa round its neck!
You missed out the airbags. The thought of one of them going off in an elise scares me slightly

Loved a quote a few years ago from Wheeler (Mr TVR if i have his name wrong) who, while explaining the lack of airbags on the TVR said something along the lines of this,
"We have to credit our customers with having some sense of self preservation about them. We do not fit airbags in a convertible because they push the passengers head up into teh danger zone in the event of a roll."

So the airbag detonates, forces your head upright but the car is inverted and collapsing around you and you get severe gravel rash across the top of your bonce.

Sounds like tosh to me. Peter Wheeler was the man who reportedly said when BMW took over Rover "I am not having anything bloody German in my cars any more" (referring to the Rover V8 ). No decision was more disasterous for TVR than his decision to start building their own engines. Had he decided to continue with crated-in engines, and had countenanced ABS, traction control and even airbags which at least a chunk of the market demands, TVR might still be around today.

Sounds like a familiar lotus development pattern, lightweight car gains more and more toys, more and more complexity and more and more weight.... :(

My 111R weighs double that with me in it

It's a shame that Lotus have to conform to marketing/safety pressures putting more kit on the car to appeal to a wider audience. Might not be for the purists but they will still be fantastic cars.

Lotus and the dealers have little control of the values, market forces and Glass's guide knock the stuffing out of anything this side of Porsche, Ferrari, oops and of course Atom

I have a mate that's a sales Manager at a BeeEm dealership and it's scary stuff when your used car stock drops £500+ per car per month. Not for the faint hearted  3 yrs ago X5's were an 18 month wait for new and selling over list. At the end of the old model they were discounting with 10 in stock.

Whats' going to be the most desirable though Elise SC or Exige S (240ps)?

Apart from the S/C what's the point?

Not likely to win over many diehards with all the extra toys/weight....

Still not gonna appeal to many in the Boxster etc market....

So more crap to go wrong.

And it looks mince.

Windscreen surround needs to colour coded to the car, and what happened to the quarter lights, did they run out of glass :!: :!:
Kinda steps away from the original concept of a light, simple, quick back to basics sports car for the masses.

Anyone know how the weight has changed YOY from the original elise to this latest one?

(eg. 1996-97 700KG; 1998-2001 760KG etc)
