I was lucky enough to get a call from Mr G yesterday to have a quick look at the missile. What a machine!
I've seen george's at KH, but the black bodywork of Andy's made it look all the more menacing. The whole family were round at the flat for a cuppa, and we all stood at the window and saw Mr G spearing down the cobbles of Comely Bank Ave - who even managed to give the oldies a wave.
The seats are surprisingly comfy, and inside its suitably spartan as you'd expect. Seeing 48s through the framework on a wet day (and cobbled streets!) made me suspect I was going to be in for an interesting pax.
The huge airbox makes rear visibility tricky, and all the driver has are surprisingly small wing mirrors to go by. After clicking on the (non self-cancelling) indicators with a wee toggle switch, we were off on a wee jaunt.
Even though this thing isn't the blown version, you have no (and I mean no) concept of how quick it is. The hammer goes down, the throttle response is instantaneous and the airbox tries to gulp all of the air out of your ears and lungs with an almighty schluuuk. I wasn't wearing any form of eye protection, and within nanoseconds all was a blur! My ears became nothing but a recepticle for tears, and I even shouted some expletives at one point that couldn't be heard - we'd left them 200 yards down the road!!
I said to Andy I expected he'd be gutted to lose the RLC, something tells me he'll get over that one! An awesome piece of kit, and I doubt seriously if I'll ever be the kind of driver that a machine like that deserves.
