Site's looking good - can I suggest 'Scotlands' gets a possesive case apostrophe? :)

Its just a picture on as website not as if its on the cover of Evo -
These two statements appear to contradict one another. The first one to me means discuss copyright stuff offline. The second one to me means that the copyright holder shouldn't be concerned about a minor abuse. Or am I being thick?

By the way, healthy criticism is in fact a better way to help your friends prosper in business than blind allegiance.

Jason has a valid point and Andy will no doubt be grateful because he could have fallen foul of copyright breach from someone who would actually get the lawyers involved and possibly seek damages - now that the issue has been raised I am sure he will be scrupulous in making sure he has copyright holder's consent before using an image on the web.

Your comments, on the other hand, whilst no doubt well meaning are not really constructive.

Just my 2p's worth.

Cheers,
Robin
I can see how you would have taken it that way so I will clarify...

"I actually meant the post...." comment was meant at the fact this post was the advertise the site not getting into a discussion about XYZ.... Why cant ppl just say well done and let it be done.... Why do so many posts on here have to be taken to such extremes :?: :?:

And the "WTF...." is from the fact someone has taken 3/4 posts to talk about copyright when its just one small picture on a NEW website. I respect the fact that no matter how small it still falls under the same rules etc etc however I think its (as said before) something that should be taken up with Andy/Ali and not voiced for everyone else to see...

And the constructive part... With all respect I think you just need to read some of the other posts (many involving J33) to see that there is a lot more pap said on this site. I fully agree with constructive criticism and if I should ever have any I'll give them a call and do it a more confidential enviroment... :thumbsup

And thats just my 2p worth :D

I don't wish for a confrontational air here, but I feel the need to respond, so hope it's not misinterpreted...

I'm not entirely sure any posts on this thread have been at all extreme. They've all said 'nice site' etc, and/or provided useful, constructive criticism :?

I assume the 'someone' you refer to is me. As Robin has correctly said (and I'm grateful for his and Fergus's responses), my initial reply was to make Andy aware of possible *big* problems arising. I elaborated because Tut asked me a question, and I believe he deserved the courtesy of a reply/explanation.

FWIW I have contacted Andy privately, which is, erm, private - and, as already stated here, am happy for him to use that image on that site. I merely raised a very important issue. I could have been someone to take serious issue and help Jim get his next 'imminent expense'

If you read my earlier posts, you'll also see I (a) apologised for drawing focus from a new site to a copyright issue, and (b) attempted to get back on topic

Sorry, folks. Those who know me know this kind of posting is not 'normal me'. Ho hum... :leave

Hi Jason

Really sorry mate - thought I had! Been up to my neck recently, and no intention to use it without your permission.

The pics currently are just in there to get the site up quickly, so happy to remove, and apologies for using it without permission again

Just a thought.... you dont see Dan smearing anyone else on his website. Fine to post opinions on a public forum like SE but it could be seen as slander on a company web site.. might want to edit out that one.

Ali, wish you all the best with your new site. :thumbsup

 I agree. That was a tongue-in-cheek comment from me and since I've never used SLS maybe best to remove it.
Agree - forgot that was even in there! Shooomer!! Have pulled it as certainly there was no intention to say anything negative about Dan. He used to service my car, helped me and the LOTRDC race at Donny, and came along to Oulton also, and he's a top bloke .

We all wish Ali well in what he does, it can only be good for the "comunity". We dont want any bad feeling between anyone.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

No worries, Andy :thumbsup Got your email, so you know I'm happy for it to stay on the site. Glad to read that all is squared away with other images' permissions... that was the concern :)

Cheers

I'm sure Jason or others did not intend this to turn into a slagging match, but the point had to be made
