Sorry - don't mean to be so heavy handed - I just tend to go off on one when these things are mentioned (ask Gareth)

You pays your monies and takes your choice. Just don't discredit cars because they are standard. It the right hands they are very potent, as Giles can readily demonstrate.

Yes, Gareth usually gets it in the jugular ;)
Mac is right though, Giles's car is standard and he's quicker than me although not been on track with him since the 135R. Still think he will be quicker as he wiped the floor with me in my S1 with Nitrons.

Also don't forget the S2 kicks out 120bhp a whole 2bhp more than the S1, and has the close ratio gearbox too.

Also don't forget that the later S1s weigh more than the early S1s.

No probs, you didn't really go off on one, just made a good point. :D :thumbsup I didn't mean anything by the weight thing, or the standard car thing. My problem is I don't really know what i'm talking about. There are so many different models/variations/upgrades it's all quite confusing :shock: :? :oops:

mac wrote:Tom - There is F-all wrong with the output of a standard S2, it's marginally heavier than the S1 (what are we talking 100kg max - and I don't think it is anywhere near that)

S2 - 820kg (for instance) @ 118bhp = 143.90 bhp/tonne

S1 - 720kg @ 118bhp = 163.88 bhp/tonne.

So 20 brake horsepower per tonne.

Factor in driver considerations, Shug driving a Std S2 against me driving a std S1

Shug = 820+80kg = 900kg @ 118 = 131.1111 bhp/tonne

Me = 720kg + 140 kg = 860kg @ 118 = 137.2 bhp/tonne.

That works out at 6bhp/tonne difference.

The S2 isn't a heavy car - and power isn't everything. All you need to do is compare the K powered cars against the Toyota powered ones at Brunty's last week.

Mac

your having a laugh right???? those calculations are dubious at best. A standard S2 is more like 50 kg heavier than a standard S1, and theres NO fcuk WAY your as light as 140kg :lol:

Anyway, lets stop this talk of cars for tom to buy, as we all know he'll have that polo till his free bus pass kicks in :wink:

What is 140kg in old money anyway?

I just kinda though I weight 2/3's as much again as Shug, although I have heard folk say that I'm twice the man he'll ever be :D

As for the weight difference - I didn't think it was as much but it made the mafs a hole lot easier :wink:
