Scotty, i found a LOT more grip offline on saturday. I was carrying a much higher corner speed on almost every corner by running off the dry line. Did you not find that when you raced there??

For sure you did, Paul.

As for whinging, depends who is doing the writing I guess.

I found Jonny to be clued up, well organised, fair and approachable. First experience of him, and only my 2nd or 3rd experience of an organiser of a "big" trackday as opposed to KH outings.

If, by chance, it's the driver of a white KTM X-bow who is moaning, then I have a hunch as to why...

Also, some may have been frustrated by track closures due to biblical rainfall levels a couple of times during the day. I personally was one of them, but spoke to the organisation team and they explained the problem very rationally...was Race Control's decision, not Bookatrack's, and there are big insurance implications if they go against those decisions.

I thought the Bookatrack team were very good.

My money would have been on the orange X-bow... supposedly there was a nose to nose "discussion" on Sunday

Kenny and I were commenting on our way home as to how impressed we were with the 'book a track' guys. :thumbsup

The driver of the white KTM would appear to have missed the driver's briefing (and any other for that matter) and was pulling some dangerous overtakes, where he should not have been. Basic track-day etiquette was lacking on his part. I'm sure the organisers would have been required to have some words. Other than that, I saw no reason to grumble.... unless you are of the belief that they have control over the weather.

Aha. I forgot about you junkies who stayed on for more :-)

The X-bows were quick for sure, and never had an encounter with the orange one, but I did with the white one. Robin convinced me not to make it "nose to nose", and let the organisers take up an issue instead, and this seemed to work actually...later encounters were much more in line with trackday etiquette as laid out in the briefing.

But it wouldn't surprise me if something else blew up later, as I am guessing they were buddies and would naturally be supporting one another.

Every track day organizer wants you to report issues to them ASAP and on the day rather than (a) bitch later on the internet or (b) punch the other guy in the face.

It makes it easier for them to weed out people that they would prefer not to have back if they can point back to earlier track visits where that person had to be spoken to more than once.

They also don't want people to get the impression that they don't care about whether or not you felt safe/had fun/... when these stories are related on the internet you always (wrongly) assume that the organizers were aware and failed to do anything, whereas they won't actually know a thing unless you tell them on the day :-)

I've only ever once felt like sticking the head in (with helmet on, obviously) and that was when some drift car was let onto a track day and proceeded to shower me with burning rubber for 3 straight laps before getting a black flag, and then repeating the whole thing again on his next outing. Each to their own, no problem with him being out there, but he should know to get out of the way :-)

Cheers,
Robin

The discussion was between the X-bow driver and one of the Bookatrack guys. Personally I thought Bookatrack were excellent and would quite happily use them again.
