I was another cynic. Not about any cluster-f*** cos I always expected it to be better than our wonderfully negative press  ...more that there was no point trying for tickets when the overall cost of attending in London would have been prohibitive. Been fantastic to witness on TV, but envy folk like Simon who've been able to witness it in person.

Going to be in cold turkey next week when those 24 Freesat HD channels showing live Olympic sports disappear!!

Me too. Really hope I can get Commonwealth tickets for the Velodrome. As a wee appetite whetter, I believe there will be a round of the UCI World Cup hosted in the new 'drome this coming November :thumbsup

If you join British Cycling you'll get advanced priority to book tickets! :)
It costs £24 to join but there's currently £10 cashback at Quidco. You also get 40% off CNP products & 10% at Halfords for all purchases plus lots of other benefits.

Believe a bacon roll was around £3 in the complex, not much more than KH.

We took sandwiches!

A cup of reasonable coffee was £2.80 and ice cream was £2.50 so not too bad.

I think beer was expensive, £4.30 for a bottle from the mobile vendor or >£5 from the bar.

Just watched the women's wrestling alongside redtube in split windows, and there was not much difference.

Beer and tabs don't really sit with the Olympic image :blackeye

Similar view here. Less of a cynic to start with, was just not really interested. The opening ceremony got me started and now addicted to the TV in the evening and loving it.

On the back of the Olympic hype, one organisation that has caught my eye is the Royal Mail. That dreary, old, government run establishment that you associate with queues and boring things like tax discs and getting parcels weighed to send abroad. :thumbsdown :tired

They issued the Olympic set of stamps prior to the games - meh - they do things like at special ocassions. But then on the day a GB gold medal winner is announced they have a new stamp all designed with the medal winner and show you the new issue on a giant stamp on the day either ion TV or next days press and it's also released to the public the following day. 8) They have have done this for all our gold medal winners. A real nice touch. Then there is the gold letter boxes in the towns of winners. Again a nice touch and also done very promptly. Our press are still flying on the highs just now but one rag chose to resort to normal negativity and lead with a sub-heading they had painted one in the wrong town. Royal Mail's reaction ? Sorry about that - we got the data from the official Team GB listings, but we would be delighted to paint another in the correct town. Brilliant. And again today, an article that most of the gold paint has been picked off the one in Dunblane, presumably by those wanting a keepsake despite paint being only two days old. Royal Mail have said they will paint it again in next few days. :thumbsup
Bringing a little bit of the excitement to all of us out on the street from an organisation I would never had put down as being imaginative or probably thought would need a committee of hundreds to take weeks to organise anything.

Mate called me last night and got me some tickets for Glasgow velodrome next April. £15 and iirc God Hoy will be taking part.

Not so fast GB.

We are about to ruin everything with a hackneyed closing ceremony.
