Guess this could be interesting to some,
Just sat her on the scales and with a registered 21 litres of fuel she was 791Kg.
Doesn't have the under tray on and no back spoiler but still pretty light when some claim the Audi's are getting on for 850.
Discovered a Pro Alloy tank which was a pleasant surprise.
Noticed the heat shield for the exhaust has a section missing which is exactly where the manifold comes through for a Honda, just wondering if this was a conversion before, no other trace though and cant think what else to look for.

Oh hes still going strong, a real petrol head. Has had 3 audi engined lotus (after yours) but just now he has a Gumpert Appollo, big HP Skyline, GT2, crazy Golfs, RS6. In all honesty a real top bloke, hes now away to tune the Noble and is already looking at 600Hp+ and a sequential boxed wrote:r10crw wrote: Craig.

Glad he caught the bug, has bought another project or did that one finish him off?

Were gonna keep in touch and see how we get on with each others cars as they are both sorta projects although I considered the Noble good to go

Oof - call that half a tank, given the legendary accuracy of the fuel gauge. Bloody light for an Audi engined car. That will be properly rapid...r10crw wrote:Guess this could be interesting to some,

That car looks stunning. What turbo do these come with?
Can't beat a bit of boost!

Re: Back to the beginning, with Pics
She has an AET GT3076R hybrid, 57 inducer comp wheel with a 0.63 housing?
Guess you know what that means cause I certainly dont
The guy at AET basically said it should flow 550 but because of the smaller housing and .on a 1.8 it would max out a little earlier maybe 500 ish but spool quicker. I just want it running cleanly....

Re: Back to the beginning, with Pics
Almost identical spec tubby to the one that was on my evo - a bit laggy and then it hit you in the back like a hammer about 4k rpm, is this still a 1.8 or a 2.0?

Re: Back to the beginning, with Pics
Pretty sure its still 1.8 so your correct nothing until around 4k then I'm guessing that once I get traction (and am less scared) it will be like a hammer
Questions though, this nothing low down then it coming in at 4K is that not called boost threshold then when nailing throttle the time taken to get boost is the lag? It seems quite responsive when feathering the throttle (compared to the Noble) and with respect to the 4K thing surely it means just keeping it in the revs with the gears? I'm not exactly a turbo guy so its all pretty new to me but Im struggling to see why people make a fuss about it, ever tried a Honda below 4K?
Bob (Hiscot on here) has been a great help and put me in touch with some guys who will hopefully be able to help out. Turns out the cars fairly well known down south and has the things down to it I was told about which is an improvement on my last Mr2

Re: Back to the beginning, with Pics
Pretty much my understanding too Craig yes, and I'm with you on folk moaning about nothing below a certain rpm, if you keep it in the correct gear and hence in the range for boost then there is no issue really. As you say VTEC and my old DC2 was worse than the evo (mine comes in at about 3600 rpm as it's a smaller turbo) as the VTEC point was about 6200 iirc.r10crw wrote:Pretty sure its still 1.8 so your correct nothing until around 4k then I'm guessing that once I get traction (and am less scared) it will be like a hammer![]()

Craig.
You will get a bit of lag when nailing it from off throttle as it takes time to build the boost, (air pressure) in the pipework but as you have said it's pretty responsive so that's all that matters. And you get used to nailing the throotle a little bit earlier than you otherwise would to allow for it. The smaller housing will help with that too so sounds well set up.

GT3076 woud probably be my ideal turbo I reckon, it must be mental in an elise.

I'd maybe even come to Knockhill for a pax in that.
