Robin, when you convert by 12-15% to get flywheel hp, does that apply to the torque as well?

tut
Torque and power will scale together. So if you decide to apply a 15% correction to the power curve, the torque curve will also move by 15% ...

In BHP & lbft units:

power = torque * RPM/5200-ish

As you can see, if you double power you'll have to double torque in order to keep the numbers straight.

That's not to say I think it's appropriate to apply that correction factor - torque at the hubs is the most useful measure of your engine's performance - flywheel power is for pub chat only :-)

Cheers,
Robin

Yes Robin it's throttle controlled, vtech only comes on at 4300 if it's floored.

So that's my maths corrected. Not for the first time!

Finding myself strangely drawn to the charms of Honda engines. Not for an Elise, though - for avoidance of doubt or speculation :-)

Swap deal available here for a day or two :-)

Just don't scratch my new nose - it's very shiny :-D

Oh - and best let me get my brake fluid changed too - very spongey right now!

Thank you. I'll be going transverse mounted though (so to speak!). Your S2000 has been part of the inspiration, though...

I'd posted prior to getting in the car with the family for a long drive and actually thought back as to whether I'd successfully conveyed what I meant in my head. The answer was no.

I wanted to describe the difference between naturally aspirated delivery and turbo. In standard form the AGU 150-180 power is very aspirated in the way it feels, but as soon as you starting getting more power (from my experience, and I realise there are many ways to map a car), that you move into the more traditionally thought of turbo type power delivery. I spent many years running non-lotus turbo cars and while those were great :blackeye , I actually enjoy the aspirated delivery from my admittedly basic Elise. I suppose looking at the evidence you've given that no matter which way you go, you are going to have limited power bands that affect how the car feels to drive. It also shows some very nice power curves which must be a pleasure to drive. :cheers
