[quote="steve_weegie"]Yep, still got the rs6 and nearly 3 years on it still gives me the giggles accelerating at full chat. The ever evolving remap helps too :) It should be Avus silver but living on a farm pretty much guarantees its various degrees of brown.

Only reason I was asking about the car & colour was the whole "regular speeding" thing the 2 officers were trying me on with.....maybe "mistook" 2 cars that look similar to general public....beware.
A very good friend of mine got caught on a Sunday around 8.45pm on the long straight heading to Thurso not far from Dounreay.....road deserted and he was "checking over" his RX8 prior to selling it,marked car hiding behind a trailer in a farmyard caught him on hand held device and he got the statutory 1 year ban and £450 fine.......couldn't get the dangerous driving dropped because of the speed.

The Av Speed function of modern trip computers could become v handy.

I also have an app for the phone, useful when in the tech-lite Elise :-)

Has anyone on here ever been caught by an average speed camera?

I have never heard of anyone being caught.

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

I'll tell my wife ;) She's the one who drives the Audi regularly up here, but she swears she drives it like a granny though. The rear tyres tell a different story

Spoke to my dad last night and he told me he'd just been done on the A9 just north of House of Bruar (but heading south) on the mahousive dual carriageway between Dalnaspittal and Bruar .

If you drive the road you'll know there's a bit before it goes into single carriageway where it's blasted through the rock and there are some entrance ways up into the fields. Fully marked car completely hidden in one of those wee laybys. Came out after him and threw the book at him.

To be fair he was doing a scandelous 83mph.

On a section that im usually WELL north of 90 tuts.

Not sure if this bit is now covered by av speed cameras

Careful out there.

Experienced "the new A9" at the weekend. Felt a bit less frantic, but not noticeably slower.

Dialling in the Cruise at 65 or 75 as appropriate works well. And returned 52mpg ;-)

Got flashed when I overtook one do-gooder. Maybe he was just trying to warn me of the new cams.

Considerable absence of speed limit signs though. Apart from the new 50 ones for trucks. Interesting that. Conspiracy theories?
