Never let the Public decide an important issue, they invariably make a mess of it as they are not well enough informed to make them.

That is exempting S_E of course.

The whole debate strikes me as slightly academic as I don't think there is a cat in hell's chance of the UK voting to leave. There is a lot of evidence from past referendums including the recent independence vote in Scotland that electorates exhibit a strong bias towards keeping the status quo, and that this bias is often heavily underestimated by opinion polls. Basically when asked to make a big decision in a referendum voters tend to be highly risk averse. I'd be very surprised indeed in if 'in' side doesn't win comfortably, regardless of all the hot air over the next 4 months.

Think I agree with that. The biggest noise will come from the more traditional Conservative supporters and the more right wing shouties. Boris is probably playing a blinder by being on the right side of a losing battle in order to position to be the top General. I do like the idea of the SNP campaigning under a "BETTER TOGETHER" banner tho :)

Therefore we already have a lot more control over our immigration than a lot of people realise we just don't necessarily enforce it (or control it) There is no guarantee that this would be any better if we left the EU and in fact could be worse in some respects.
Actually Schengen and the Freedom of Movement of Workers are not the same thing, though they are seen as interrelated. Schengen abolished the physical borders but even when the borders are in place, European Workers still have the right to move across them.

Tis a good point. I'd have taken an punt on Indy in 2007 when our stock was literally riding high, not after the crash.
Freely moved to Austria on leave this week and watched series 1 of Phoenix Nights with the send the buggers back song. I'd imagine that's the most decisive factor in the in or out vote but with no further info on what happens on immigration either way how can you decide?

What do the SNP want me to do?
Vote IN. They want massive IN vote - something to contrast with a close or Leave vote.
Grievance needs that strong indication.
Nic has said for IndyRef2 they want a year of polls wanting indy above 60%.
These polls are typically asking 1,000 people who are up for talking.
Anyhoo, 60% vote In up here, and theres ur trigger I reckon, if it goes for Leave.

I am on twitter everyday, its as crazy as ever. Even when the abusive attacks on "stats" are over, and its proven to be one way or another, the angst still spews forth. Its disgusting, like the human part of the brain has been removed. No rational argument.

If it is a Leave (which I doubt, given that most MPs will vote In and they represent how we think, right?), then I hope there is indyref2 and I hope that its a massive Nope... However, if its a Aye, then im gonna watch those that spew forth the angst sit there on strike complaining about the cuts etc.
Flipping fill your boots, im fed up of Referendums.

LOL. They didn't pick the most eloquent person to interview ;-) But in the end he disagreed with himself and declared that he was in favour of staying in Europe despite the fact that Mr Cameron also wants to stay in Europe, though he wants his own currency (so does Mr Cameron).

I suggest roll up papers with "IOU" written on them might work, post independence :-)

Robin

Have you seen the exhausts on the Panigale 959, if that doesn't convince you to vote Leave, then nothing will.

I don't even know what that is - if forced to guess I would suggest the kind of revolting sandwich you get at Starbucks?
