The mechanic at my work says he would be willing to give it a go, but with out seeing it, can't say how effective the repair would be. He would need you to supply a touch up paint, and he would buff & polish out the scratch. We also have a body shop who we give a fair bit of work to. They are very good, and quite cheap... could be a 'plan B'.

Let me know if any of that is any use.
similar enough to what i'd have done, it's worth a go tbh as even getting a professional to try, it will cost £50 and will get you a noticable improvement even if it's not totally perfect.

also if the scratch is basically level you could perhaps just cover it with a sticker?

I'll give it a go - it can't look any worse!

He did a poll at the time, the majority said it looked gash, it still does. Makes it seem like the owner wanted a 355/360 challenge but couldn't afford it so stuck some vinyl on their Exige instead :thumbsdown

Know how you feel mate, had mine about 2 weeks when some twat decided to key my front clam, from above the R/H wheel all the way down to just above the lotus badge. Thankfully whoever done it, was a complete fanny and only damaged the lacquer, so can only really see it in certain light. Got a quote for about £650 to get it resprayed, but decided to leave it for now. Just glad I never caught the b@stard doing it, or i'd be locked up for manslaughter!!!

Just called ChipsAway - the guy was round within the hour - they won't be able to fill it- it's a respray job!

So the 3 quotes so far are - £250; £280 and £350 - all excluding VAT Shocked - I think I'll leave it for the moment!
I think ChipsAway prices are pretty random. The guy with the Dundee franchise fixed 3 separate areas of my car, two of which required filling which included a series of deep scratches over one of the rear wheel arches where the previous owner had scuffed it along a stone wall, a thumbnail sized depression on the nose where someone reversed into it and a corner chipped off the hard top. All for £150+vat. fantastic job too, tho be careful if you ever use t-cut near the repairs!

It was one of the mobile guys - the quotes so far were from Mitchell Ingles, Fremon (partick) and Nationwide. Chipsaway said they wouldn't touch it - the paint is too difficult a colour to match apparently - and to buy a dark coloured car next time!

THere's a guy in Paisley that Dom's mate recommended - but it'll have to wait til the new year - when i can (nearly) afford it!
