Cal, just when I thought I'd made my decision you have to go and throw another strong candidate into the mix
That's the prototype Evo X isn't it?

Surely at HM days with a mix of cars from turbo jap cars, wee beasty elise/sevens/catarhams and super cars, then its inevitable the turbo jap cars are more likley to hold up the elise/sevens/catarhams in the twisties and vice versa. Everything is more likley to be holding up the supercars.
You also have to factor in driver ability, each individual cars setup, newbies/track expeirince, warm up/cool down laps, mechanical failures.
If your car is quicker can you not simply pass them on the straights??

Theres a hell of lot more too it than that. A car might be 3 secs quicker in the corners but 2 secs slower on the straight, which is often the case with Elises etc. Straight line cars could quite easily hold us up but thankfully this is not often the case and the straight line cars lift off to allow us past which is obviously what they are supposed to do...

So if they are lifting off on the straights, then is the problem not more KH's rule of not allowing to pass on the twisties?

No because then you run the risk of people not looking and colliding on corners. Remember, track days are for fun not racing!

The straights are obviously the safest places to overtake and im quite happy that that those are the rules. Im sure many others would agree. I dont bother with insurance and although would be fun its not worth the risk IMHO.

Sometimes the problem for me (and others) is the supercars. I can outdrag most of the evo's and subaru's but the 911 GT3/GT2 or a 360 is still a tiny bit faster than mine in a straight line. Usually its these owners who dont want to be overtaken, so dont lift on the straights even when they are causing a hold up in the bends.
I suspect most of the standard cars have the same problem with unhelpful subaru's and evo's

Agreed but there aren't too many of them, most tend to move over when they realise you're faster. I tend to find the 1st timer scooby drivers are the worst at not moving over but that's maybe down to doing mostly SIDC days.

Spot on Simon. So I dont see why folk are bothered about people being held up by slower cars, if the Elise are allowed past on the straights there isn't a problem.

In a ideal word yes there would be a problem but the point is that not everyone does move out of the way hence the original question...
