correct size but just smaller, i.e. the characters themselves are the correct proportions as the "standard" fonts, just suits an elise / exige sized car better....

Full size and 3/4 plate photos to compare. Fonts are the official ones but the flag background on the 3/4 is black.

My 2p is that the 3/4 size plates really suit the clam of the Elise/VX.

Its all a personal preference thing - if you want one, get one. There is nothing less illegal about a 3/4, no plate, or a normal sized numbers with smaller boudary plate. Pays yer money, takes your choice
