From Mr Buttson on SELOC.
Battery can get you ~8kg depending on what you replace it with.
The door renforcement is 2.2kg. Locks and push buttons are 1kg a side. If you strip out the door, replace the glass with plastic windows, mill out the hinges, cut away the inner skin and replace the mirrors with some SPA ones and you can take the doors down to 6kg. I've left the locks in place so my doors are 7kg, down from ~20kg.
Seats, doors, battery, fuel tank are the best big savers.

If you have not done so already, speak to Steve Butts. He has his S1 down to 615 kgs, with a 250hp K series.
Dont know if you spoke to Skeggsy at Donnie, but he is part way there also. Did you see Steve there, I gave him my wrist bands so that he could get out on track.
I agree with you regarding weight, one reason I have two of the earliest and lightest Elises, both with MMC brakes, but not sure if they would survive your right foot. Steve though still uses MMC's at the rear, they are half the weight and save 6kg, or 12kg all round in my case.
Still think that you should try Craigs or my car before you write off the S/C, as though I think that you are equal to, or faster than any other driver I have been on track with, you can not do anything about a more powerful car on a long straight.
On the other hand, if you are happy with your car as it is, then why change it.
Mine is a different situation, if it has not happened already, age will overtake ability, so I thought what the hell, lets go out in style............

yep, mines is standard engine. You can get 300bhp from the NA, although it is more expensive than the SC.
Like i said, you can save a fair bit of weight just by getting rid of stuff. When it comes to spending money then theres 12kg to save on wheels, 12 kg to save on seats, 5 kg to save on fuel tank, i hope to save 18kg on driver. i reckon an NA honda could get down to 650kg.
I dont think MMC's will last, although it may be worth a try once i have cooling ducts installed. Want to lend me a set to find out tut

After shredding one on Saturday, I need a couple of spares myself. I also have them on N1 TUT.
Watching some on eBay at the moment, but normally too many people after them. Got this set by chance on eBay when a breaker advertised a sidelight bulb for auction, but showed a picture of the car, and I could see that it had MMC's, so phoned him up, he did not know what they were, so got them for peanuts.

yep, its not that its actually weedy, just FEELS weedy. At the end of the day, if your not racing and just doing trackdays, the sensation of speed is more important than actual speed.jamie wrote:Neil
I know what you are on about with the sc and a big fat midrange making the top feel weedy. I found that once I had the Bemani fitted. And Bemani themselves suggest that using the midrange to exit corners although its not as much fun as revving the nuts out of a n/a engine![]()

Looking fwd to the first 400 bhp car!
Any fool can have over 400 ponies
Look at my tintop for example - 450bhp, but it's hauling about 1900kg about, and that's not including my lardy bahookie
As has been said, PTW is the key
