We can now contribute to this thread!

Alan has just picked this up:

Had to go to Surrey for it though!

Last Sat we went to Porsche Aberdeen for a test drive of a lovely 4WD version. We waited 2 weeks for it to come in, and they let us keep it for a few hours so took it for a wee drive (cairn o mount, 100 miles and half a tank of fuel later), we decided so buy it so took it back the the garage to do a deal, only to find out they sold it to someone else while we were on the test drive!! We were furious, so a few emails sent to the garage manager and the managing director of Porsche GB then a look on the internet for another one and we found this one. (RWD, a little higher mileage, and 10k cheaper than the Abz one), put down a deposit and Alan flew down to check it out and sort out the details and he's now driving it home. They even put 4 brand new tyres on it!

Mega chuffed as it's an epic car! :D

It's a 11 plate 911 GTS, 408bhp, with 7 speed PDK, sport plus package (includes launch control, and the other suspension and increased rev stuff), heated seats, BOSE sound, and the other usual cruise control, sac nav, phone prep, Bluetooth etc.

The test drive of the one last week was truly epic. It's deceptively fast. You think you are cruising at 60 but going much faster, I was mighty impressed with it, as was Alan. It's a fantastic everyday car.

As a none Porsche fan, I have to say that looks really nice and spec sounds awesome too. I cannot believe that a dealer would sell a car from under you when you're on a test drive, that is shocking behaviour

That is STUNNING!!!! :thumbsup

Hope the centrelocks arent as much hassle as people say. I think the GTS is the best non- GT3 997 to buy, hopefully it won't lose money at all. Oh, and OPC warranty!

Excellent job - extremely jelous. 8)

Can I have some of your money please?!

Very Nice
There will be a smile as wide as the motorway he is driving north on.

Tell him to give Braemar a miss as it will be a tad snowy

I am away to knock the snow off mine and give it a battery charging run

:cheers

Thanks guys! Iv just spent over an hour guiding him through the outside of London to get North, as even with sat nav he still got lost!! It takes a special talent! Lol!

I'm hoping he'll come straight home but he may stay at his folks tonight, depending on how tired he is when he gets to Glasgow, but I will def tell him to avoid Braemar then! Thanks Iain! Oh, and I like that it should really be my car! ;)

They just put a years MOT on it this morning too as it was about to run out in a week or two, so they took him out for breakfast while that was being done.

The difference in customer service between Guildford and Aberdeen has been night and day. Granted the manager in Aberdeen was very apologetic and said if he was in the showroom last week it wouldn't have happened, and he agrees that it was awful. He tried to make it better but there is nothing he can do now, the damage has been done. And he knows and understands that. It's quite funny though, cos this guy that bought the car thinks he's getting quite a rare car, and took it from under our feet, but little does he know that Alan had it for a morning which resulted in a few mm taken off the tyres, and we got one that looks exactly the same but 10k cheaper and Alan will drive past the Porsche garage in Aberdeen every day with it! Karma!!

So, avoid Aberdeen Porsche, but Guildford, as far away as it is, is recommended. :thumbsup

Yeah, the centrelocks. Hmm. Not sure what we are going to do about that yet! We do know though that we'll probably take it to Edinburgh to have the tyres changed and car serviced (while it's still in warranty).

It's really the perfect 997 911, I worried a GT3 would be a bit too extreme for everyday driving, so this is the best compromise. Also, it would have taken us a few extra months before buying a GT3 as they are quite a bit dearer, and the Vectra MOT runs out next week, so good timing!

Jen although the sales side of abz has degenerated into a complete joke.(they "gave away" our macan slot after having an loi in for 2yrs) the service side is still excellent, so don't rule it out especially since you will have minor warranty stuff wanting done locally anyway.

I found the sat nav really poor on mine and very "late" on some calls so very easy to miss turn offs.
