I think we'll still go elsewhere out of principal!

So, insurance....who do you guys use? We've been using CCI for almost 6 years now but they are a bit nervous with this car as it's over 400bph and the value of it is a lot higher than our previous cars. They gave us a quote and said to be honest you'd be cheaper going elsewhere! Any recommendations? Would like somewhere that does trackdays too.

Swift cover for me, £280 per year. The tack insurance companies were funny about TP cover on other cars so I thought I'd get ad hoc track cover instead. Doubtless a false economy but hey jo.

Did I say I really liked that?

I am with Tesco's for both the Spyder and 911. However have a look on 911uk.com as their are a couple of specialist on there. Used to be with Bridle for the 911.

Tesco were cheapest for me on the 911. Aviva also were cheap on yr 1 but obviously no track day cover on those.

Admiral were the cheapest for us on a multi car policy for the RRS and the R8. Cut the RRS insurance in half from what we were paying before and were under £500 for the R8.
Obviously no trackday cover which if bought for specific events is eye wateringly expensive but given the value of these cars not entirely surprising.

Hastings Direct - Multicar
£280 - Boxster
£340 - Turbo S

Both Insured for business use but no TD Cover

Hastings tried the usual price hike after one year (Cayenne went to £600)... but matched a competitor offer after I sent a CEO email!

Try googling who "owns your insurance company" as it makes for interesting reading

Very nice choice of windscreen to sit behind, love the body colour with black wheels.
I can only imagine your anger on returning to Porsche,Aberdeen after the test drive thinking all that had to be done was paperwork to complete the deal.....think I'd have been looking for the hidden cameras re "Beadles' About".......absolute joke for any dealership to behave like this(present tense used intensionallly!!) but a Porsche dealer with all that that implies to "Joe Public"......obviously have no idea about customer relations, etc, etc.
IMHO,that's just pure old-fashioned greed on the salespersons' behalf, assuming they're on commission and a sad reflection on the times we live in.
On a cheerier note, enjoy your new car, looks to be an enjoyable place to be.....either seat!!

Ah decisions, decisions :D Cayman GTS or Boxster GTS ?

http://www.bbc.com/autos/story/20140322 ... om-porsche

As in their S variants, Cayman GTS and Boxster GTS feature mid-mounted 3.4-litre horizontally opposed six-cylinder engines, which each see bumps of 15 horsepower and 7 pound-feet of torque, bringing the Boxster to 330hp and 273lb-ft and the Cayman to 340hp and 280lb-ft. With the optional PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission, the Boxster GTS will sprint from zero to 60mph in 4.4 seconds; the Cayman GTS will make the trip in and 4.3sec. Top speed for the Boxster GTS is 174mph with the standard six-speed manual transmission; the Cayman GTS is good for 177mph. It perhaps bears mention that Porsche's standard 911 Carrera takes 4.5sec to reach 60mph (with the PDK) and will press on to a top speed of "only" 173mph (manual).

A return visit to Porsche Aberdeen surely is a must; would be hilarious.... drive in your new car, park up, go find your salesman, ask him about a car outside you have seen, take him out to see it, then say, "oops I already bought it" :finger ..or any other suitable wind up.

Oh, and record it for us all to enjoy
