Re: Independence SE Poll
Do the odds not change depending on how exposed the bookies are as well though? If they are already seriously exposed they will try to reduce that risk
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

+ 1 for another poll on the 15th or something to gauge any swing.

But then could we not charge a percentage of the tax as the goods crossed the border rather than leaving the port?Rosssco wrote:Sounds like a nationalist propaganda message to me Bob, I'm not sure TBH. Even if it was, its not likely to change since we don't have any major container ports in Scotland.

I presume that's how it would work as the export point would be when it crossed the border as opposed to when it got loaded on a shipGBOBM wrote:But then could we not charge a percentage of the tax as the goods crossed the border rather than leaving the port?Rosssco wrote:Sounds like a nationalist propaganda message to me Bob, I'm not sure TBH. Must say im an undecided, but this is a good video which could sway me...
However, I've been really busy the past month or so, so reading and research starts now and reading SE threads like this is a great start! Well done folks

but I was like... do the passion in UK, get the change in the UK.
We can all make a change and make the whole island be the way we want it to be.
Should I vote Yes and be independent just so something might happen down south and we left behind in some retarded fcuk up economy (my opinion)
fck no!
I like Russell, I think similar to him, but I aint playing around like that.

Re: Independence SE Poll
If Scotland rejects independence in the referendum, it would be the only country to do so, aye?
No.
Quebec, latest referendum of its history.
No: 2,362,648 -50.58%
Yes: 2,308,360 - 49.42%
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebec_referendum,_1995
There are other smaller counties similarly rejected, much smaller populations, but Scotland would NOT be the first to decide to reject Independence and stay Together.

Another thing investigated by me.
Folk said to me about pensions being paid by UK government, so no worries there with the current Scotland workers having to fund it, right?
Wrong:
"For those people living in Scotland in receipt of the UK State Pension at the time of independence, the responsibility for the payment of that pension will transfer to the Scottish Government. "
Deputy First Minister.

A friend Yes voter said to be about how its rediculous we are paying £4.7bn towards HS2.
I dont agree with HS2, however...its being hinted as an extra cost to Scotland...
9.9% contribution to uk, and some of this is given back to scotland, others to rUK. £48bn spent on HS2, so they saying 9.9% contribution from Scotland is £4.7bn.
It isnt an extra charge.

Re: Independence SE Poll
Had another discussion with someone else about not voting Tory gov in.
"We voted against conservatives overwhelmingly - who governs us (granted with lib dems)."
So I looked it up.
1,035,528 labour voters, thats double Tory, but not the drastic when you add Lib and Con together (465,471 + 412,855) = 878,326; so when said "overwhelmingly voted against", its not really true.
Changing voting to a different system is an argument, but not really against the end result.

Re: Independence SE Poll
Last one from me tonight.
I wondered about the finances and how we are to build up an Oil Fund, so did some research.
11bn from oil per year; 8bn from financial services who's customers are 90% in rUK.
Scotland income in tax: 56bn. Spent: 65bn. (Take out the debt payments and that's 61bn; take out relative military and other costs, 59bn. ish)
Still deficit. Yes want to spend more and reduce corporate tax. They want to save into a fund, yet it's a deficit, run that by me...
If no currency union and financial services move south, that's say 5bn gone from tax.
So, tell me how the fund will be paid into?

That white Focus with the big YES stickers on the doors in Dundee definitely isn't Phil's anyway!
On that note, I presume that Dundee and surrounding areas aren't alone in being predominantly 'Yes' when it comes to stickers, flags and home made wooden signs?
/don't get out much!
