I too, have a (homemade) snow plough for the mower. Only thing is, we built it a bit 'sturdy' and it's had a poor effect on the weight distribution.....
Same here it weighs over 100Kg

Anyone else had any bother with mytyres?

Placed an order a week ago for a set of winters but received an email today stating that they couldn't process my card & I'd have to pay by bank transfer. Obviously I'm not happy to do that due to the reduced security so gave them a call. Brain dead call centre moron couldn't tell me what the problem was with my card & wouldn't let me amend the order with an alternative card  Cancelled my initial order & went back online to start again before giving them another call to politely request they give my new order a bit of priority being as it had already taken them a week to find some inexplicable problem with my first order. Brain dead call centre moron #2 was of course equally helpful, couldn't give my order priority, put me through to the order processing department or let me talk to a supervisor

So in the event that they can't process my card this time, anyone found a different supplier? Had used mytyres specifically as they ship from Germany & therefore do actually have winter boots in stock unlike UK suppliers.

I fitted the Vredersteins (wintrac 4) to Annes Voyager on Friday, and we were up in Pitlochry at the weekend, so done about 200 miles on them.

What a difference, they are quiet, feel much softer/comforable on the road, with no lack of feel over the budget tyres that I had on the car, we have went back to the 16" rim (had 17" aftermarket ones fitted.)

Very happy with the tyre, in good conditions, just have to wait on the snow now to see how they perform. Mind you, bet it wont come this year now!!!

I got 4 Vredesteins for my A4 last year from http://www.reifen.com, as I couldn't get anything in the UK. It's a German company but will ship to th UK, I think I was 20 Euros for all 4 delivered. I would def use them again.

Black Circles have been excellent - next day delivery and when I returned 2 tyres ( long story & my fault) the process to pick up /return/ dispatch replacement has taken less than a week.

Really impressed and their prices were honoured from quote price despite the onscreen price going up in the meantime.

Totally agree, you get what you pay for with the Vredsteins. Even if it doesn't snow, it's still a better tyre to have on in cold damp weather.

Well the Nankangs are on the car.

I fitted them last night, in the dark (obviously..) having collected the wheels from the tyre fitter.

First impressions are... good actually. It was 5.5 degrees and the roads a bit greasy. I'd already had a couple of traction control moments on greasy turns with the summer Kumhos, but none of that with the winter Nankangs.
They feel a bit, erm, inaccurate, and are a bit noisier (at approx 50mph), but the grip was there, which is obviously the whole point - hopefully this will improve as the weather deteriorates too :)

Other than that, they look really small (probably the wheel design and the slightly narrower tyre) and the VW centre caps are driving me nuts already ;)

Strange indeed, I just ordered a set of winters for my Mum and the first email said that they may take 4-5 day longer than the original 3-4 days so I was thinking that they could be upto 9 working days or almost 2 weeks. It wasn't an issue as there wasn't a major rush. However they arrived in 3 days so better than expected. :thumbsup

My friend has had a issue with them recently although I think that was more to do with the fitter than Mytyres.

That's my winters back on now too and they are much better than my rock hard summer tyres with these cold damp conditions. Nankangs I have too. :thumbsup

Great idea :thumbsup

My Sailun Ice Blazers arrived and got fitted last week, but hardly got a chance to drive the car as I had a hire car and was up & down to ABZ a few times then punted offshore. Fresh on they weren't grippy at all in the wet (I'll blame the release agents and highish temps), troubling the TC in 2nd & 3rd, but on the plus side the step up from 215 to 225 section gives some rim protection at last - Mrs B can do no more damage  :thumbsup :blackeye

Bring on the sna' :damnfunny

Absolutely Fabulous.

I was vaguely aware of some bod on Radio Scotland this morning talking about this. I thought he was complaining about farmers digging up the roads with their dodgy snowploughs, but maybe he was actually the nice man from the council who helped get them the shiny new ones instead :-)

I still like that principle from the States (think Robin mentioned it last year?) where each neighbourhood has its own plough and they take it in turns to deploy it. Can you imagine the scramble to get a shotty the first time there's a dusting, LOL!
