Not driven Oulton myself, but from rep, it's not a track to take lightly - barriers are very close in some very fast places. That said, LoT days are some of the best around for driving standards...

Tough one, your call.

Barriers are close in the fast places, but you'd be very unlikely to hit them - the corners have huge gravel traps - hence why its so good for racing :thumbsup

In the LOTRDC race the only prang was on turn 1 and that was due to 36 cars turning in to 1 corner at once :damnfunny

I've seen plenty of track day smashes at OP and KH. The only difference is that if you reach the barriers at OP it's probably going to hurt more than at KH ... but in a plastic & tin foil car, pretty much any car-barrier action is going to be expensive - everybody has to drive OP at least once, so given that it's a LOT day I would go for it.

Cheers,
Robin

Thought there may be answers along these lines. Anyway, Ed has sold his place, so it's academical now anyway. :|

Is anyone driving down on the friday?

I'm looking to leave Edinburgh at 9am on the friday morning. Should leave plenty of time to get to the Chunnel for the 18:20....I hope

Have we got details of the French Hotels yet? I was trying to do a TomTom itinerary.

Also, do we know which Hotel Walshy is booking for us?

Peter

I think we are all leaving before then.

Myself, Ali, Scotty, Andy, Benny are wandering down on Thursday, Robin not sure of latest, but by 0300 Friday for NW, and Craig probably the same from Old Deer but direct to the Tunnel.

I am going down either Wednesday or Thursday, and staying with my girlfriend in central London.

Will meet you chaps at the tunnel Friday evening. I have to go via Newcastle on the way down to pick up my car as its been at Dans for the last few days getting some things sorted for the trip.

Hi Guys

For the Walshy crew - heading south for a day at North Weald on Friday.

"You're staying at Pussy Willow, Mill House, The Street, Takeley, Herts CM22 6QR.

I have booked the whole B&B... it's only down the road from us.

If it's ok, one of you will have our double room, and the other 5 are at the B&B (or else, if the 6 person is desperate to stay in the B&B they'll give you 2 mattresses on a floor - hence why I didn't book that bed). It's £140 for the 5 beds in total - 1 person in a double, 3 people in a twin (but with 3 beds) and one person in another room"

Now who needs a bed Thursday night?

It should do. However, it's half term down here the week after so the roads might be busier than usual. For instance I couldn't get a Chunnel crossing at all on Friday or Thursday so have booked the Speedbarf ferry over and the Chunnel back.

Has everyone remembered to pack a high viz jacket? The law in France changed on the 1/10. You must have a high viz jacket (in the cabin not the boot) and triangle. On the spot fines of between 90-135 Euro if you don't (why is it a variable fine I wonder?)

Weather is looking up too...
