Do you not need to wear a helmet for fear of getting splatted by flyes and stones at speed?
WileyX goggles are the way to go

My lid will be only used on track Sat am :D

Only gaylords wear lids on the road, & that includes hailstorms @ 80tuts

Shug is correct, my R400 is 200 raging ponies :laugh (as all are)

Pax laps are always available in the Supersnot :thumbsup

Gareth why not go racing. By the sounds of things you have the funds. A caterham on trackdays will be easily quicker than most things. Go racing and you'll really be able to use the car to it's full potenial and find out how to drive it quick. :D

Or alternatively you could sponsor me to race it for you then i can get on the grid rather than spending months scrimping and saving up a half decent budget  :D

(worth a try  )

Gordon,
Would love to go racing (I'm now picturing Mr Crozier falling about laughing) but I'm lacking in talent!
Plus the lack of funds if it all goes t*ts up.

Caterham needs to be road legal as I want to use it for nice days at work and for runs.

Bike engine is out the question. I think they would be a constant maintaining project and I lack the knowledge to keep them on the road.

Looking on the Caterham website there seems some nice ones (all I know is they "look pretty")

Image

£ 14,500
1.6 Supersport 135bhp 5 spd
Mileage: 28000
Description:
14" Minilites, Immobiliser, Heater, Weather Equipment, Full Screen
Extras:
Tonneau, Q/R Momo, Painted Rollbar, Leather Seats, Race Harnesses, Carbon Dash, Black Pack

Something like that I suppose.

Best of luck Gordon mate :thumbsup

Why don't you try selling your backside at KH for some cheap driving lessons in other ppl's cars? Say £5 for 5 laps worth, to show ppl lines etc?

(Just don't read the Perry McCarthy's book, may be slightly disheartening on the finding sponsorship front!)

:damnfunny Aye right. I canny drive compared to the boys who race. Wait till you get in a car with a real racer. Being quick on a trackday is one thing, being a quick racer is another planet away.

Read Perrys book. Good laugh  .

Gareth...... roadsport A has 138bhp, lsd, 6 speed etc and is road legal. I'm planning on driving mine to the track to race it (although everyone's "in the know" is telling me not to as the chances of it driving home could be slim) .

The biggest stumbling block for me just now (apart from getting the funds together) is finding a good car (poss EU3 thats had the forged pisons done) that has weather gear. All the racers i've spoke to say the full hood wont fit over the cage with the doors and everything. The best i've found is a zip up cover that goes over the cockpit and you just unzip the drivers side, jump in, then go like fcuk before the car fills up with water  . Plus all the race cars have dumped any weather gear they had.
I'm sure Lawrence can get somone to make something up. Something to look at when i'm at the point of purchase i think.

The factory R400 engines are made by Minister - not reknowned for bombing *touches every piece of wood within reach, yes Shug, even the morning wood  *

Once you're at R500 levels (230bhp, 9200rpm  ) things get a bit more interesting..... talks of full "refresh" every 3k miles (track use) isn't unheard of :thumbsdown

Gareth, going direct to CC will cost ya
