There's just a whole load of nasty mental images going on there

S2 - 820kg (for instance) @ 118bhp = 143.90 bhp/tonne
S1 - 720kg @ 118bhp = 163.88 bhp/tonne.
So 20 brake horsepower per tonne.
Factor in driver considerations, Shug driving a Std S2 against me driving a std S1
Shug = 820+80kg = 900kg @ 118 = 131.1111 bhp/tonne
Me = 720kg + 140 kg = 860kg @ 118 = 137.2 bhp/tonne.
That works out at 6bhp/tonne difference.
The S2 isn't a heavy car - and power isn't everything. All you need to do is compare the K powered cars against the Toyota powered ones at Brunty's last week.
Mac
your having a laugh right???? those calculations are dubious at best. A standard S2 is more like 50 kg heavier than a standard S1,
My S2 sport tourer weighed 789 Kg's (with full fuel etc) at 'Stu's weigh in'
last year.

140 kg is approx 21 or 22 stone mate. you aint THAT fat. and difference between basic S1 and S2 is close to 50kg. i think there are loads more options available on the S2 which folk buy, which is why they get the image of being lardy.

Has the S2 got a bigger fuel tank? Or does it have a bigger radiator etc?
These would both obviously add weight?

I think Tom should go for a standard S1........
.........coz there's nothing better than the smug feeling you get whilst overtaking Ed in a car with nearly half the horses....

Tut's car weighs about 760-770ish kg (with Honda) IIRC and Craig's (guy that lives near Tut) cam in around 20kg lighter. Mine was exactly 800kg with a just-under-full tank and mine is the lardy K engined S2.
