Another car for her.... help please!

There aren't many about it appears but we have found another fairly local had a look at it yesterday - looks good, 2 owners from new - book price, low miles, offered book on the mx-5 but no service book.... They are chasing the prev owner to find out where it's gone. Not interested unless they can come up with something for the last 2-3 years at least.

3 month RAC warranty looks v.similar to AA P&L but without the upper limit on the cost. Will negotiate for 12 months they seem pretty amenable.

Hope this one works out as we really don't want to MOT/insure the MX-5 again...

OK then - how much is a service history worth then?

So far they have got hold of the PO but he says the service book was in the car when part-exed to another dealer but it appears to have gone walkies. They are still chasing the PO to find some recepits but I'm not convinced...

So my thinking is this: we will want a full bhuna major service by a Merc/Smart dealer with all the trimmings.
Thoughts being the smart dealer will do a normal full priced '£45 for a windscreen wiper adn an hours labour to fill up the wash bottle' and pick up on everything that might need doing then we can talk about what needs fixing.

Or we try again to find another car - but the MOT is up on the MX-5 on Monday...

OK then found another - cheaper, mint condition but slightly more miles - more importantly it's significantly cheaper!

We had put an offer on at ~£1600 to change for the first one (The crashed one) this one is £700, new MOT and tax full Smart service history, 2 prev owners, all the options, sorted - but it's yellow.

Its amazing how nice it looks knowing it's cheaper!

Nice one Rich. Don't mind the yellow, but it's a colour that needs to have the front & back painted rather than bare plastic imo. Does it have the silver Tridion, or black?

I'm 'hoping' to get one this weekend. Got a chap flying up from Bristol on Saturday morning to buy the RX8 (he's bought a 1 way ticket... so hoping it's a done deal).
Then in the afternoon, I'm off to have a look at one with the wife.

It's silver trition (IIRC!)but now your asking I'm not sure...! She likes it that's the main thing.

Dealer was a surprise...Not bought a car from trade for quite a long time but I was very surprised how eager they were to deal - no fuss. We started with a reasonable price for her part ex (£400 over book trade in!) - they all agreed to it pretty much straight away and they were selling at around book prices.

He started with 'the auto trader price is a cash price sort of thing' - the screen price was £800 more.
We expected his haggling to start at the screen price but he started at the 'cash' price! We were ready to pay £1200 to swap with this one and got it for £700... his loss!

We picked it up today - I am very impressed!
Handles like a gokart, swift enough, relatively quiet inside and good ride!
Autobox is a bit odd but not enough to seriously annoy - its just a bit slow now and then and changes up a bit late for normal driving. The auto downshift is equally slow, using the flappy paddle shift is quicker.

It's actually quite civilised.... it is very yellow though... She has the grin

Well it busted a spring on the way to work yesterday.

She phoned the Toyota garage we got it from, they ordered the part, picked the yellow peril up at 4 pm yesterday, provided a courtesy car and she got it back 10 mins ago fully fixed

Well and truely chuffed with the level of service offered.
