I'll fly up.

Actually if I booked all the flights in advance it would probably be cheaper than installing sky just to watch the F1.

Well said!Shug wrote:Although how many people moaning about this also moan about the cost of a TV license, or the budgets at the BBC? If there's one tax I actually don't mind, it's the TV license - the Beeb is a national treasure which we won't really appreciate until the idiots calling for license fees to be dropped get their way - which I think is sadly inevitable one day. Not just as a TV station, but as a resource which develops world class talent and skills.
But f*ckit, if it gives some sleazeball politician a ticket into government off the back of saving a few quid, what does that matter, eh? The reason the Beeb lost F1 is due to the massive government pressure to cut budgets, that's the sole reason. And it stinks.
That what i was thinking.Corranga wrote:Well said!Shug wrote:Although how many people moaning about this also moan about the cost of a TV license, or the budgets at the BBC? I've said on a number of occassions over the past few years, right from the first GP that the beeb transmitted after ITV, that I was more than happy to pay the licence fee for that sort of thing.
Combine it with things that the beeb seem to do better than anyone else such as Sherlock, Life On Mars, Top Gear (well, some weeks!) and it really is something Britain should be proud of.
I sometimes wonder though, if some sort of advertising compromise can be made (usually when watching the beeb advertise it's own shows).
Couldn't we just have a single ad at the beginning/end of a show, generate a little income and allow the licence fee to remain the same (or drop by a token fiver or something) then have like "Top Gear - Presented by Toyota" but no other ads. I'm sure companies would pay a fair what for such exclusivity, and as a viewer, nothing would really change!
I suppose the ideal and the reality are never the same mind.

Have to agree with the morose quadruped here, Sky have done nothing wrong in wanting to build business. That said, doesn't mean I'll be extending my subscription. Maybe that's what TCs meaning?Lazydonkey wrote:Why?tuscan_thunder wrote:I suspect there will be a bit of a backlash against Sky
BBC didnt want to pay for the rights. Bernie wanted as much money as possible. So it went to someone else.
Its Bernie and the BBC that have made this happen.
Like i said earlier i dont think it's the right move, and that's even with my mixed loyalties but you can't blame sky.
Are Sky really ripping you off or are your just not watching enough TV.j2 lot wrote:I will watch BBC races live and highlights of the others. Have just ditched Sky as was fed up of being ripped off and have no intention of paying to watch F1.
I hope it results in a huge declinein UK viewing and gets ditched.
Bernie strikes again
that sounds so wrong on many levels rossr055 wrote:I'll bring my dogs for Shelley to play with!Dominic wrote:Therein lies a planwoody wrote:
