Hatch (FN2), the saloon (FD2) is import only which puts me off.campbell wrote:You talking about current Civic hatch or saloon, Mike? I rather fancy the booted one - FD2 I think? - but not sure if will ever get there!

Re: Family (Track) car
You are probably happier with the hatch (bigger boot maybe?) but if that's similar size between the cars and import status is the only issue, I'd be tempted to talk to Litchfields first to see what they might do.
I had a word with them about Integra DC5s and was impressed by Ian (the owner!)

As said you can pick them up for 13k, so about 3-4k more than a FN2. Boot is also about 150 litres smaller!Fluoxetine wrote:Hmm - I'd suggest an FD2 CTR Saloon, but the boot is only 350 litres, and they seem to go for crazy money (£18k for a 4 year old Civic?!)
My freind Simon on here has one with a few trick bits, he keeps trying to talk me into one too!

Mike - i dont think a golf or civic is going to be lairy enough for you on track. Could be wrong, but RWD is where its at surely?

This got me thinking about Integra DC5s again ... had a look around ... spotted a cracker in red, without mods.
Ideal family vehicle at our current stage (provided we keep the Octy too!). The MINI won't last for ever...kids already complaining about legroom...
This thread is getting dangerous.

You've either never seen a 1 series boot or you've never seen a kiddies 'travel system'!ClarkyBoy wrote: surely the 1 sereis boot space is not that poor?

1-series have really shallow boots and virtually no rear legroom- not a problem when little people don't have long legs you'd think, but what actually happens is the little peoples legs are too short to bend when sitting on a seat so their legs point straight out and they kick the back of the seat... contstantly!
Leg room FTW!!!

i see... Is it clear at this point i have no kids and no clue about their legs and rear legroom - i juts presumed little people + little legs = little need for leg room...Stevoraith wrote:You've either never seen a 1 series boot or you've never seen a kiddies 'travel system'!ClarkyBoy wrote: surely the 1 sereis boot space is not that poor?

Exackly. Which is one thing putting our wee MINI under threat now, as our two get a bit tallerStevoraith wrote: the little peoples legs are too short to bend when sitting on a seat so their legs point straight out and they kick the back of the seat... contstantly!

Hence attempts to justify an Integra DC5

Yup. I think they are too fussy and too small looking for the lardy arsed Mk5. I think the monza's look a lot better on the car.Mike wrote:campbell wrote:Multispoke BBS-esque? Beg to differ. Amongst the nicest wheels ever, IMHO

Sure you are thinking about the correct wheels Donkey?
For what it's worth i think the FN2 CTR is fantastic value for money at the moment and after having a drive of one the other day i really enjoyed it. Jumping from the mighty primera to the CTR it felt more than quick enough for me on the road.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

Re: Family (Track) car
Not sure the DC5 has that much rear legroom either from memory the seats are pretty low down and coupled with the high window line in the back, not great for the kids to see anywhere, even on boosters. I know that journeys always go a bit easier when there is stuff to see. I spy would get a bit repetative with no outside view.campbell wrote:Exackly. I'm with Andy too, Mike. From having the CTR on Frolics it was pretty capable but just very very dull. Great on the motorways as it was comfy but on track was boring.......
It would have to be rear wheel drive for me too I think. But there are not that many good RWD family/track cars. Get a decent family car and a cheap R33 Skyline RWD not GTR, even you would enjoy that and you NEED a turbo in your life. Oh actually the skyline has back seats too.

A family car is always going to be compromised on track unless it's an Evo of course.

Re: Family (Track) car
Fair feedback on the back of an Integra, D. If it ever became a truly realistic proposition, we'd clearly all have to go and sit in one first
Maybe back to Civic FD2 then...though they seem relatively rare and to be holding quite a price.
Anyway none of this is helping Mike so I'll leave it there!
