I'm afraid that doesn't make you even remotely qualified to argue with Dave on this matter.Jeremy wrote:That's my opinion based on my own experience of having owned 5 Porsches over 3 decades

I have virtually no knowledge of either, but it's not exactly a great comparison.DDtB wrote:Shame for you it's a 2006 golf you bought, not a late 90s...
Good thing Jeremy is talking nonsense though ... 90s golf interior better than a 996 ?!?! .. might be time to retire the rose tinted specs![]()
I'm pretty sure that the mk3 golf was slated lots, in part due to it's interior, and VW invested WAAAAAAY too much in the mk4 interior leading it being regarded as better built than the mk5 one.
Not saying anything in relation to the Porsche, more that the late 90s Golf interior was over-engineered and miles better than probably any other family hatch of that era
Glad you're enjoying the 996 Dave, I have to confess it made me have a look at pistonheads / read some other 911 advice as it's a car I'd never considered before, but they look like very decent buys atm.

I prefer the RWD with less understeer. Good mark 1 C2s are great value ATM.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

I know the owner of this car well and despite being a tip, its a bloody good buy for £20k. One owner with 40k miles.

The tiptronic is ok if one has other decent manual sports cars.

Finding a mint C4S within budget is proving difficult!
Found one on PH but now I've googled the garage...garage has history.
Viewed a "mint" one this week....far far from being mint....or even great.

Gareth,
In a prior thread I listed all the links that I accumulated when looking for the 964. May be a bit of a trawl contacting them but may be worth a try:

As there has been some inactivity on the pictures front for a bit I thought I would update a couple of Porsche piccies I took at the Geneva Motorshow last week:

Re: Porker lovers
I was on the RUF stand and the guys were absolutely fantastic taking me through the RUF 3800S (http://www.ruf-automobile.de/index.php?id=88) where they have transplanted the 911 engine into the Boxster.
They even gave me a DVD of the history of RUF which was a very nice touch.
I may well give them the numbers on the Porsche Spyder/964 to see if there is anything that they can do (could be the first blackbird 964 Targa if funds were no concern).
